He went a bit further than that, if my memory is correct. It wasn't reference to her begin attacked, but raped. At least in the version i heard. Horrific out of context, but shockingly hilarious from Boyles mouth.

I did know that, and avoided it for reasons that I think it inappropriate to mention on here, but it's there now.
As for you finding it 'shockingly hilarious' - that simply underlines the point that one person's humour is another person's shock and disgust.

I still cannot reconcile the notion that any comedian or indeed any individual, can be held responsible for the behaviour of someone else - it simply does not hold up.
Yes Jo Brand's comments may be heard or read by people of less sanity than others, but you can argue that about anything said anywhere at any time by anyone - that's the world we live in.

I cross-posted with pixie (Hi Pix!!), but we are essentially making the same point.
Naomi, you are fine with the concept that the Koran 'incites' Islamists, but the majority of the world don't interpret its messages that way.
This is simply a more modest example of the same scenario - you can call anything 'incitement' of you want it to back up your view on something.

And we do. Shamima Begum was ‘radicalised’. How many times have we read that her decision to go off to Syria to marry a jihadist wasn’t her fault? //
I think that is steering the thread off-topic, and into an area that will cause it to be derailed and deleted - 'incitement' if you like (!), so I'm not going to pursue it.

Hi Andy :-) x
Yes, we are not able to "brainwash" people literally. It has been tried so many times over the past (particularly with the military) and never succeeded yet. Even hypnosis only works if the person is willing. Otherwise, people look (subconsciously maybe) for excuses to do what they really want. Why allow them an excuse?
