I sincerely hope that the company responsible for security at the Mansion House lose their contract.
If the security was that lax any one of the guests could have had a knife, gun or bomb on them. Were they all grabbed by the neck and ‘escorted out’? No of course not.
I agree with you Jackdaw. Imagine if it was a terrorist attack. They would have all been dead, or seriously damaged.
Clover i am torn between if it was reasonable force or not. Part of me thinks so, the other part thinks really..... the neck?.
Jo, the person evicted was the only one heading towards the MP's table with something in her hand.
It was a suspicious movement, and yes there was something clearly in her hand. If the woman was a potential terrorist, the man would be a hero. However, she wasn't and the force used was a touch brutal.

I'm really torn on this one -.- i don't think he sould have been suspended though.
Sorry thesshhh my thoughts are conflicted.
"There didn't seem to be any risk of that happening"

Really? Do all people intending harm telegraph it first.

Unfortunately people these days don't reach out to help, and this is why.

This man should be praised, not vilified by the left.
I wonder what the lefts response would be if TR and his rabble trespassed on a leftie meeting?
Looks like The Brexit Party will start picking up more votes then.

Tories are riddled with the liberal elite.
Typical response from mealy-mouthed May. The sooner she's out on her April the better.
Was the MP a Brexiteer by any chance?
Remark from her husband:-
//he's ok, she's taking down the government, one Tory at a time.//
So nothing to do with climate change then?
She is just weak until the bitter end.

Good riddance to the woman.
The spin put on this - to make the best of a bad situation, is that Mark Field was 'concerned about security' which is why he behaved as he did.

The reality, and it's clear for everyone to see -is there in the video.

Mr Field was not 'concerned about security' at all, he was angry that some hostile totty was about to make a fuss, so he lost his temper, grabbed her by the neck, and frogmarched her out of the room.

The look on his face says it all, he is not fearful, or concerned, he is angry, and reacting accordingly.

Of course, they then have to hit the damage limitation reaction, which is to give everyone some guff about what a hero he was, what if she had ben carrying a knife / gun / nuclear device, whatever - and a number of posters on here seem keen to buy that s both the reason and the excuse for his behaviour.

The fact is this - as an MP, and a government minister, you don't go around laying your hands on a woman who is walking past you, and forcibly march her out of the room with a face like a smacked bottom, past dozens of cameras, that is never ever going to end well.

So if everyone wants to swallow the spin about this and 'What if ...' from now until the last trump, then feel free, but I repeat - the reality is there on film for everyone to see.

This is not a man concerned about security being a hero, it's a nasty brutish lout grabbing hold of a woman and using unnecessary force to remove her from a room which is neither his job, or anything approaching a reasonable reaction to the situation.

The PM obviously sees it from my point of view - she has not offered him a George Cross for his 'heroic actions', she has suspended him.

He will continue to play the victim, and bleat about 'safety and security' but his facial experession and his behaviour say different.

Now why didn't I see that response coming?
Jackdaw - // Now why didn't I see that response coming? //

Probably like Mr Field, you were busy acting first, letting your sense of self-righteousness get the better of you, and then having to think about your actions afterwards.
This poor innocent woman (a serial protester) who just happened to be innocently walking towards the MP's table with something in her hand.

I couldn't care less if she is a 'serial protester' or the woman in the moon, that has absolutely no bearing on what happened.

If you want to restrain someone, you stand between them and their 'target', and shout loudly for security and assistance, and you look terrified because you are in fear of your life.

This video shows an angry man assaulting and then manhandling a woman out of a room by the neck, his reaction is nothing to do with fear and concern, and everything to do with temper and over-reaction. He at least has had the grace to admit that he behaved inappropriately, let's allow him to see what happens before patting him on the back, shall we?
