Boris Johnson has set up a “war cabinet” to deliver Brexit “by any means necessary” by October 31 as a senior cabinet minister warned that there was “now a very real prospect” of no deal.
Nice turn around, up to now the HOQ as tried to thwart democracy by any means necessary. Will the EUSSR now accept we are prepared to leave with no deal? Will they let that happen?

The name calling and insults don't count 3T when they emanate from the "correct" source. The insults and name calling that started within hours of the Referendum result, and in some cases, during the preliminary "exchange of views". Remember some think freedom of speech is only an acceptable concept when they are doing the talking. The days are long gone...

One of the great mysteries to me is the notion that saying we’d leave without a deal is any sort of bargaining chip. It’s never been that way, isn’t that way now, and never will.
Each extension has involved asking a reluctant Europe to let us stay.
The preparations for a no deal are an exercise in damage limitation. Aside from that, the government needs to do nothing. Nothing in relation to the EU anyway. They might have more of an issue with the parliament if it decides to “take back control” from the ministers who originally helped thwart Brexit on the first place.
Ben Travers is turning in his grave :-)

Exactly, Ikky.
As I keep saying, Hell will freeze over before the Commons allow a No Deal Brexit. It's all very well for BoJo to shout from the rooftops but nothing has changed since the last time that was the "default". In fact, if anything, it's a worse situation for those of us wishing to see a proper departure because the few of her cronies that Mrs May was able to keep under control have now been let loose by being chucked out of the Cabinet. More than that, a majority of the new Cabinet members are Remainers and by October the PM will find that his Churchillian rhetoric cuts no ice with them. For all their faults, the Euromaniacs are not daft. They know this is the case (I expect they listen to the wireless) and they have no need to fear a No Deal happening.
Once again, I will be delighted to be proved wrong, but I suggest there will be no departure without a deal. Since the only deal on offer is totally unacceptable but is not negotiable I fail to see how BoJo's stirring words will achieve much. The time for those words was three years ago but he was knifed in the back by the man now charged with making sure everything is in place for No Deal.

mushroom: "the house of commons won't permit "no deal". - it's the default position, do nowt we are out.
ZM:"Have you, seriously, only just tuned into that, Tora? " - well TBF I did have my suspicions but when Treason May went to try and get a "deal" I assumed I must be wrong. If we knew all along that the EUSSR wanted no deal why did we bother?
ich: "One of the great mysteries to me is the notion that saying we’d leave without a deal is any sort of bargaining chip." -seriously? if you have the nuclear option the enemy must believe you are prepared to use it.

You should have ‘had your suspicions’ when you familiarised yourself with A50, Tora, where it clearly says that the leaving member state won’t be party to the negotiations. We were delusional if we thought the Golf Club captain would negotiate with Fred Bloggs who'd just resigned from the club owing £millions.
If as I suggested earlier Johnson is actually preparing for a GE on the assumption that there’ll be no deal before Oct 31 and no “no deal” either, then he’ll have to devise a way of extending the deadline without cancelling Brexit or looking too submissive to the EU by buying more time.
Presumably even the current cabinet is not nutty enough to call an election to ask for a mandate for no deal ... and let it happen by default during an election.
