AOG - It's not, it's been deleted.
Togo, I do not look for an ulterior motive every time a Muslim is mentioned in a newspaper. By the way it was not only in the Mail.

Oh I see!!! it is now all part of destroying the myth that Muslim women are not really oppressed and constantly being told what to do.

That should be reassuring for all those Muslim ladies.

andy-hughes the first Muslim jockey is reported in a number of news outlets not just the Daily Mail, although some have chosen to report that she is the first jockey to race on a British racecourse in a hijab.

Now that is really news.
AOG, can you please answer post at 14.40 (second time of asking)
// By the way it was not only in the Mail.//

Errr, I did know that. Just my little finger wag at the Mail bashers. I see that Victoria Pendleton is riding in the race...…...Does anyone know her religion? Or Katie Walsh's or Hollie Doyle's or Hayley Turner's? Or any of the hundreds of other women who work in the racing industry very successfully? If not why not? Or don't you care. They will be making a film about it next.
I guess any "firsts" are newsworthy in a way. Good for her anyway. Although... it days she hadn't been on a racehorse until April, but she has been riding from 10, so it isn't all that remarkable.
I wished all the ladies good luck on page one.
Togo, why don't you say what your real problem is?
AOG - // Oh I see!!! it is now all part of destroying the myth that Muslim women are not really oppressed and constantly being told what to do. //

I think that is a myth actually.

I am sure there is a section of Muslim womanhood that is oppressed and told what to do - but that applies to womanhood everywhere on the world

To our eternal shame as men, that is the lot of some women, purely on the basis of their gender.

So,,,,,You're saying that female jockeys are useless?
Bit sexist, if you ask me.

No I'm not saying female jockeys are useless, you'd have read the words 'female jockeys are useless' in my post if I was - but you are just having a pop to amuse yourself, so let's drop it there shall we.
There is very little difference in sex with equestrianism anyway, which is why they usually compete together. If anything, females are better built for it, but don't necessarily get the same chances in jobs.
Your ' even field of jockey's abilities,' would suggest you think them inferior.
Imo, they're not.
Nothing for you to adopt your threatening mode of posting over.
Or he thinks them superior, but presume what you prefer, spice:-)

Lol Spicey. That conjures up a recent scenario posted on AB. I will keep that to my self and PMSL.
Spicerack - // Your ' even field of jockey's abilities,' would suggest you think them inferior. //

Only in your imagination Spicerack, experience of my posts should tell you that I don't do 'suggest', I state my views with all the articulacy I can muster, which is considerable.

// Imo, they're not. //

In mine too, despite your efforts to try and twist my view into the opposite.

//Nothing for you to adopt your threatening mode of posting over. //

I don't do a 'threatening mode of posting' either!

Put your imagination away and let's get back to the thread.
It's a charity dealing with an exclusively female function, hence the lady riders. Though i have to add that, looking at the line up of pilots, i wouldn't say they are all of equal experience. Some have been brought up around horses or have worked with them for years. Others, like the young lady in question, have been riding for only a short time. And at least one is there only to promote herself. In my most humble opinion, of course.
