/// A policeman suddenly breaking into an extended dance routine while policing a football match would look, and indeed be, unprofessional. ///

Yes that would be ridiculous, as there is not much dancing around in football crowds.

But would it be acceptable for the police to link arms with the supporters, shouting "Come On You Reds"?

/// A policeman suddenly breaking into an extended dance routine while policing a football match would look, and indeed be, unprofessional. ///

Yes that would be ridiculous as there is not much dancing carried out in football crowds, but what about the police linking arms with football supporters, and shouting "Come On You Reds", would that be acceptable?
Ooooh a classic AOG ‘what if’ which has nothing to do with the original scenario.

You forgot to start off your ramblings with the word 'SO'.

Are you frightened of breaking AH's 'SO' rule?
There is no ‘so’ rule.
It’s a bit of fun.
The coppers are there to build relationships with the community as a whole and they arrest as necessary but know when it’s ok to have a bit of fun.
What if.....right.....the police wore rainbow epaulets and blacked up. And instead of nicking people they made them twerk to the hokey-Cokey?

/// The coppers are there to build relationships with the community as a whole and they arrest as necessary but know when it’s ok to have a bit of fun. ///

Are you so naive enough to believe that the police will ever build a relationship with certain communities?

They hate the police and kowtowing to their whims and culture, is fine at the time, but when it comes to enforcing their crimes, they take on a whole different approach.
So what if there is a serious incident while the policeman or woman is prancing about? Some on here would be singing a different tune,do what they are paid to do.
ummmm, ‘snowflake’ is just a word AOG has picked up on and knows is ‘current’ but hasn’t a clue what it means.
Zacs - I know :-)

Aog - who are certain communities?
Police Officers have a hard enough job without the general public picking fault with everything that they do. They are expected to protect the peace. Surely getting as many members of the public on their side is only a good thing.

They face stories like this one all the time https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/6989104/police-officer-shamed-burger-king-reply/ the Sun seems to be out to cause trouble between ourselves and those who often risk (and lose) their lives to keep us safe.

Just because some people do not agree with dancing Policemen doesn't make it wrong.

The Polis are people too ☺

Take your pick, the police and the media use that description all the time, just to avoid pointing the finger, and then being called "Racist".
If they could bring some of this unbridled joy to the scenario where they look to have you fined for unwrapping a sweet while stationary at a traffic light that would be good.

Yes agree but the tune that they would be singing to would be, it's the police's fault, they aggregated the situation.
For heaven’s sake! They’re not getting into full ‘Strictly’ mode. They’re having a little jig around to the music and interacting with the public. Should something untoward take place they’ve not got to climb out of their dancing pumps and leotards before they can attend to it! They’re there! God! The drama of it all!
I've never heard that description before.
What description, ummmm?
Yet MORE Bull *** from The Daily Wail !!! Will you EVER stop falling for it aog !
Do you know The Wail has a 'word list' ? this consists of the words a normal 6 year old should be able to understand ! If a writer wants to use a Word that is not on the list , they need to get permission from a sub editor ! The 'Mail' writers actually have contests amoung themselves to see who can get the most complaints !!!
