I have my criticism of Meghan but in this instance I would back her all the way. Apart from her mother, her family, totally devoid of dignity, are behaving disgracefully. We’re they mine I wouldn’t want anything to do with them either – and I certainly wouldn’t expose my child to their influence.

As I and others have pointed out, there can be many complex reasons why families are estranged, and just because the Duchess is in the public eye is no reason why she should have to explain hers, or indeed adjust them to appease the general public.

Everyone is entitled to a private life, and this is part of hers.

My father didn't see his two sons (my brothers) for 10 years before he died. In fact they didn't even know his address. Turned up for the funeral - no idea why - and I haven't seen either of them since the funeral in 2001. I have no wish to see either of them again.
