I think she's overstepping by suggesting revoking A50 based solely on a General Election result. But if she's in a position to do that then (a) I'd be gobsmacked and (b) apparently more people in the UK agree with her than either of us thought.
2010 they won 57 seats and went into coalition.
2015 they won just 8 seats.
2017 they gained 4 seats so have 12 elected MPs.
2019 they have caught a few defections.

But just getting back to their level 9 years ago looks impossible. Of course she has to big up their chances, but no one gives them a chance.

If they get more than 25 MPs at the next General Election, I will be very surprised.
Will depend on the circumstances and timing. I think 30+ is a reasonable target. But since the election is going to be after October 31st, then Brexit Party and Tories will face off against each other and that might open the door to 50+.
I think the woman is in for a nasty shock come the election. She will lose all the defectors for a start.
Her Claim to fame will be , she helped to reduce the
CON Party Majority to Zilch , nil ,nothing ,Zero.
Love Her.
Far from increasing LD representation, I can see it dwindling. If I were forced at gunpoint to choose between Labour and LD then Labour wins hands down.
JD, what if Jo Swinson were holding the gun?

50+ is hugely over optimistic.
I wouldn’t bet on anything like that.

They did win the Brecon and Radnorshire by-election, but only after opposition parties decided not to field candidates (and the Brexit Party split the Leave vote harming the Conservative candidate).
I don't know whether the LDs have passed their motion to revoke A50 without reference to the electorate or not. It might, however, be academic:

Well, current modelling I think has LibDems on somewhere around 30. Also, I don't get why JD thinks they might go *down* when this year has seen huge gains by LibDems in the locals and EU elections. Every sign has them gaining. 50+ maybe a bit too ambitious but... well, depends on circumstances of the next election. But it's highly unlikely that the UK will leave at the end of October, so the "Leave" vote gets horribly split as Brexit Party and Tories go after each other. So that bodes well for Remain parties, assuming they can work together at least somewhat. And Labour, trying to be all things to all men, are going to be squeezed too.

I don't think 50+ is impossible. Probably unlikely, as it needs quite a few factors to align in the Lib Dems' favour.
To NJ: they passed that motion overwhelmingly earlier today. We'll see what that leads to.

This woman reminds me of Sturgeon.
Blimey she's right up her own backside isn't she ??
Does anyone remember from the same stable, also to rousing cheers; " I want you to return to your constituencies & prepare for government"
I honestly believe that Jeremy Corbyn dreams up his fatuous notions based entirely on the premise that he is never ever going to be called upon by the electorate to put them into practice.

That goes triple for Ms. Swinson, so she has the luxury of making her notions triply fatuous - and overturning the stated will of the electorate based on her personal opinion is just one of them.
Khandro - // Does anyone remember from the same stable, also to rousing cheers; " I want you to return to your constituencies & prepare for government" //

Absolutely - and a large degree of personal belief has to be behind such statements, otherwise there is no point in making them.

The fact that such personal beliefs have about as much validity here in the real world as the belief that the earth is flat are ones to be pondered in the wee small hours, alone, and desperate.

David Steele:" I want you to return to your constituencies & prepare for government" - yes, how we laughed in 1981 when delusionist Steele thought he'd be doing a deal with TGL herself. At the time of course they were the liberals not the Lib nondems. possibly this even spawned the unconvincing gang of 5. Of Course the liberal types haven't become any less delusional have they! PMSL!
The sooner people who voted Brexit are removed from.the electorate the better (MacNaughten law on insanittty etc.).

Then we'll have the clever people in charge.

Don't you agree, Jim?
