I do not condone what is happening but it's entirely predictable. The public expect their decision to be implemented, properly, as promised, not some watered down BRINO.

The country is in turmoil and what is it Cummings has to say? "We are enjoying this." Just about says all you need to know about this guy.

I'm enjoying the death throws of the VBQC, they are like the terminator but now they are crawling under the press. Brave try, you strung it out for over 3 years.
I realise this won't fit in with your inclination but I have only one among all my acquaintances who voted to leave. Within a matter of a few weeks he was rather alarmed that there was a real prospect of the UK leaving the EU without further ado. He said he had voted to leave as much out of protest as anything and that he fully expected learned people to get together to discuss the pros and cons and then decide whether to recommend in or out. He did not foresee that the issue would become a religious stage. The religious will possibly say he is not only the only example I know of but that he is the only example altogether. I find that highly unlikely, I am not so special as to be privileged to have an utterly unique experience.

karl: "He said he had voted to leave as much out of protest as anything" - you mean he loves the EUSSR really but was playing silly burgers? - play with fire, get burned. I know several remainers who would today vote brexit so for every one like yours there's one like mine. I'm not up with the latest polls but I reckon the result would be the same if we had another referendum today.
//so for every one like yours there's one like mine. //

There's at least ten around here, ttt. So, even more proof we have to leave, karl.
I'm seriously beginning to think that remainer MP's do not care what we think about them just as long as they keep us in the EU and let's face it they are doing their very best to achieve this !!

it's a sort of collective Stockholm syndrome, they've been dominated so long by their captors that they cannot imagine life without subjugation.
Each to his mindset and religion.
Seven out of 7 Commons defeats. An 11 - nil defeat in the Supreme Court. A majority of 13 now minus 42.

I’m enjoying it too, Dominic.

Small skirmishes on the way to the final conflict.
//He said he had voted to leave as much out of protest as anything and that he fully expected learned people to get together to discuss the pros and cons and then decide whether to recommend in or out.//

Then he was a pillock. The pros and cons were adequately discussed before the referendum and each side made its recommendations. The electorate was not told that they'd take part in a referendum and then "learned people" (whoever they might be) would get together to discuss the result and implement what they thought best. They were told unequivocally that the government would implement their decision and they were also told in no uncertain terms what leaving would mean.

The UK electorate has had enough of "learned people" (who normally turn out to be establishment stooges) telling them what's best for them. That's one of the (many) reasons that a Leave vote prevailed. Parliament has failed to implement Brexit, has become paralysed such that it cannot do much else either and uses every connivance to overrule the original Withdrawal Bill. It is no wonder that tempers are fraying.
Speaking of potential pillocks. Have you heard the argument that Boris' language in the House will divide the House further (as if it could be divided further) making acceptance of any deal he might get less likely ? What does that say about MPs that their vote on a deal will depend on how wonderful they feel about the government and the PM, and not on the substance of the deal ? Let's hope that's wrong.
//He said he had voted to leave as much out of protest as anything ...//

A protest against what?
Tad confused here, TTT. Was your 0853 comment aimed at me or something in the article?
Of course it is predictable, a very large proportion of the population (Leave and remain voters) have had enough of the Metropolitan elite (who exist in left and right wing parties). Same is happening in the USA.

You can push the British so far but then all hell will be unleashed, expect many MP's to be out on their harris at the next election. I suspect they know this which is why the yellow bellies wont vote Boris into one.
It has long been the prerogative of the PM, if he feels he can no longer command a majority, to go to the country to seek a fresh mandate. The FTPA has put paid to that, which is why it must be repealed at the first opportunity.
Agree completely with New Judge at 11.43. I now know so many people who voted Remain, but would vote Leave if asked again and they all gave similar reasons. These boil down to 'I was being cowardly and didn't want trouble so voted to Remain, but now I know much more about the EU and don't want to touch it with a barge-pole'. I paraphrase, of course.

We voted to Leave and we expect to Leave the E.U. --- and we're a bit tired of ineptitude, unwillingness and delay.

no ken not aimed at you just the VBQC in general.

I was having lunch with a remainer today, who would still have preferred to stay but he's despairing of what's going on now and just wants to get it done.
'I know much more about the EU and don't want to touch it with a barge-pole'

Nooooo. Much better to live with our MPs and justice system eh!

Holy Jesus.
