Mob mentality. An individual may have those thoughts but keep them to him or herself. In a crowd of like minded people and they will be much more vocal.
I agree, but there is also the fact that so called, "black awareness," issues are constantly rammed down our throats and some allow this possibly to spill over into inexcusable racist abuse.

Racism has been rampant in football for decades now, strangely it is rarely seen in rugby.
Why does football incite such hatred amongst so called fans, including racism? As has been said, you very rarely see such behaviour in rugby or any other sport for that matter.
Ever heard of football hooligans. They are the select few who seem to go to football matches just to cause trouble. They shout abuse ( not only racial) from the terraces and then after the match they cause a fight because they are of low intellect and the dregs of society.
