I know where you're coming from Derek. It is a very rare occurence in these times to hear a man whistling a tune. Young one probably couldn't, or haven't got time. (unless their phones would do it for them)

Spot on, Spotty.
It was such a rare sight. People just don't whistle anymore, largely because most modern music is tuneless, I suppose.
I'm knocking on a bit now and in my younger working days whistling when one was busy was a sign of happy contentment, as you seem to suggest, Marcel.

Folk are put off whistling a tune these days. Do so even with amazing good quality and some music hater will still moan, and become nasty.

The trouble is when people do whistle it’s not an actual tune - or not one that I recognise.

I can't stand whistling...its like fingernails on a blackboard for me. I once told a new co-worker not to ever whistle around me...that's how bad my intolerance is. Sorry to all who like it.

Funnily enough, yesterday, when I went into town on the little local bus, the bus driver was whistling throughout the journey. I was lovely. I was singing along in my head.

When I alighted, I said, 'Thank you for the music. I enjoyed that.'
