Only last week we were leaving a local shop when someone called out to my wife. It was someone she worked with about 20 years ago; I had met him at the time and spent some time with him but his face had gone completely from my memory. Yes, you can forget meetings.

As bhg says I'm often spoke to by people who know me and I haven't a clue who they are.

I was brought up in a pub. I've met thousands of people, much less than Prince Andrew.

If I can't remember people why is it wrong for him not to?

This is perfectly normal and acceptable behavior by someone or indeed anyone that has been caught out by what society calls inappropriate sexual behavior.
First deny it.
