He was wearing his cans and was asked to remove them by cabin staff. A aviation requirement for passengers to hear safety instructions on board. Usual sort with a chip on his shoulder. If he had half a brain he should know that causing a disturbance on an aircraft would result in a surprise meeting with airport police on 'wheels down'. Police should have banged...

Silly man !
Can't see it as racially motivated, but Qantas really seem to have overreacted.
Silly name!
//I think I was targeted//

Is he saying that he was targeted , because he was black
I cant see that in the report .

Perhaps he means he was targeted because of who he is , rather than the colour of his skin ?
It sounds as though Qantas is being reasonable. At least, without seeing what the staff member actually said.
I suspect that Qantas are trying to nip this business in the bud, before it all gets really silly.

if he was "targeted" it was because he ignored instructions from the cabin staff.
Bazile, he claimed "racially".
Just thought of a new program idea!

I'm a celebrity - I can do as I please!

Police should have banged this ignorant low life up for a few days. Cabin crew have a responsibility for all passenger's safety.
Maybe if Quantas banned him for future flights that might put his deck of cards back in his pocket and button up.
was it racially motivated>
There is no reason to think so from the link.
I expect he's the only black passenger Qantas have ever had. Plonker.
TTT

Do you think there may also be genuine cases of racism, or is racism a thing of the past now? Are we just left with bogus claims?
Question Author
Sure there is racism out there but not in this case SP. The problem is that people like this bloke use society's obsession with racism to get their own way and in doing so are like the boy who cried wolf. It makes it worse for others even if there really is a "wolf".
Yes there is still racism BUT if he claims it was racist to ask him to do what would be asked of any other passenger then he is "playing the race card".
Question Author
SP, he was asked to take his headphones off and spat the dummy out. In that position would you assume that it was racist to singled out or that you were singled out because you were ignoring the Stewardess?
Mr Am has always struck me as quite a balanced individual, for an American.
Something may have been lost in translation.

Be nice if everybody could just say sorry, a misunderstanding, and leave it at that.
Getting the Cops to meet the aircraft does seem a bit extreme but we don't really know what went on so hard to guage really. I`ve met the gentleman concerned..
Sp1814 - You, as a black man are more qualified to comment on racism generally and I would love to discuss the issues with you. Y
But I do t believe the Incident with W-D -Head was him just not complying with safety rules and complaining later.
