I pray the injured recover well and praise the members of the public who assisted in stopping the alleged attacker as well as the security forces.

Police officers are definitely taught to shoot to kill. They are not putting on a rodeo show and don't wing suspects with lethal intent. After one warning a double tap at the largest body area is given (chest). If close enough and safe enough a Mozambique shot can be fired especially if there is a fear that a suicide vest could be detonated whilst mortally shot.

I thought that they may be using rubber bullets if tackling someone with a knife, rather than lethal ammunition.

The reason the armed Police were there so quickly was that the incident began a little earlier in a nearby premises.

Well done to them for their rapid response.

The latest update from the met is - "A number of people have been stabbed. We will provide further information when possible."

He was wearing a hoax suicide vest apparently. Getting a bit concerned as I was there yesterday with my sister and she was going back today. I know she was going to be at Monument tube early this afternoon and she's not answering her phone. I wish they would give out some more info re casualties.
