Should You Be Able To Give Burseries Based On Race Or Class?

I think you should, but these days laws may well prevent this as these schools are saying (or are they using that as a convenient excuse?)
Thoughts?

Thanks, Builder. Unfortunately I don't know what the "Rap" variety is. My knowledge of music falls into three categories: Classical (Brahms, Mozart, that sort of thing); Jazz (traditional or "Big Band"only) and "Pop" (predominantly pre-1970 but with one or two concessions to later artists up to about 1985).
Does Mr Stormzy have another name? e.g. is he "Dave Stormzy" or "Stormzy Gillespie"?

well you can offer what you like but Its up tio the institution to accept or refuse and I can see and support why they refused. For one thing, how are you going to judge who is white enough or posh enough? As I see it the subtle difference between what Stormzy has done and this is that he gives the money directly to the student and does not require the educational establishment to be involved in the process....I'd still like to know how he will decide who is black enough though....
If educational establishments did their job properly then it wouldn’t matter the ethnic background.
It should be done on grades. On a merit system. Does the student that makes the grade need a bursary? Yes, then they get one. If not then they don’t.
There should be no question of white, black, Muslim, Jewish etc etc etc getting an unfair advantage so if they make the grade they get in.
Otherwise you dilute the entry requirement and that can be a recipe for disaster.
To get into many American colleges Asian women have to get a higher score than white males and white males have to get a higher score than black males. The dropout of black males in college is higher than any other.
Obviously that’s in the US but what is the % drop out here?
