Red Helicopters flying across Malibu bay since 9.30am today - Saturday as Kobe crashed in mountains behind our beach house. Americans devastated & sombre. Beach empty, no bbqs or music....its eerie
Oh my, this has just gotten a lot more tragic if what I heard on the radio is right. Apparently Kobe was taking his daughter and a group of her friends to a game. It sounds very much as if a majority of the victims are kids.
Alas I've never heard of him. That is hardly surprising. I watched basketball a couple of times many years ago. Both matches finished about 104-102 if I recall. It seemed to me the team scoring first would always win as "goals" or whatever they call them were scored with regular monotony as the players moved from end to end and there was rarely more than a couple of points between the teams. A tedious game where it seems someone of Mr Bryant's height seemingly sees him among the midgets.
I could not believe the amount of time the BBC devoted to the tragedy last night. It would be interesting to learn how many people in the UK had heard of Mr Bryant. But nonetheless a tragic incident.
I have to agree with you there NJ, the amount of coverage does seem disproportionate to the general interest outside the USA. Maybe it was a slow news day.
