That seems not to have been true, and, as my hon. Friend the Member for Nottingham East (Nadia Whittome) said earlier, the Government have not even received the lessons learned report.

The wife of a constituent of mine has said that he is due to be deported in just six days’ time. He was convicted under the now unlawful joint enterprise rule, and was released after two months. His wife fears that this stress will kill him because he has a heart problem. Mr Speaker, how can I get the Home Secretary to take this seriously and to be truthful about the people who are due to be on the deportation flight, so that we can halt it until we establish the true facts of the situation?"

She is not claiming that there are none who should be deported. She has asked that one specific case be looked at and that is a completely different matter.

That means that those about to be deported are "Lowlife Criminal Scum". However, if one of them is being deported only because of an offence for which he was gaoled unlawfully, is being described as "Lowlife Criminal Scum" appropriate?

It is remarkably easy to view a situation like this in simple terms - 'Low life scum - deport to country of origin'.

But as is apparent, situations are individual and not as clear cut as may first appear.

I would have no objection to proper checks that all the deportees are guilty of serious offences, and do not belong here, but that's not the same as the 'Shoot 'em all let God sort 'em out' attitude of some of our posters on this thread.

The role of the Supreme Court is to make decisions based on matters of law, not politics. Can you point to a decision that that SC has got wrong *in law*, or is it just that you don't like those decisions for political reasons, ymb?
