Burning wet wood is insane and should be avoided but I don't know how it could be enforced. Burning wood with less than 12% moisture should be the safe target.
I think the best way to regulate wood burning is to make sure stoves that are manufactured must comply to a low particulate standard, such as an airwash system where exes gases are burnt off before they exit the flue pipe.

Just read today's Telegraph (paper copy) that wood burners and open fire are considered the most harmful pollutant. This could mean the end of wood burning stoves. Also goes on to say that open fires and wood burners could be banned in the future.
Well I hope that they are going to do something about the frequent power cuts and lack of gas in our small village where most people rely on open fires.

We have been using woodburners in our very rural home for 40 years, initially also for central heating. Considering there are so few houses in the area (all with wood burners), I doubt our pollution levels are high. We have always used dried wood, mostly from the woods around and stored on our land. They have stated there won't be a ban onwoodburners. Thank goodness. Our wood comes free!

No, but targeting individuals when entire nations simply flout any attempts at addressing climate change is unlikely to convert those individuals to the cause.
It may not be right to point out that Chins is constructing coal-fired power stations at a rate of one a week - but it does give credence to the protest that individual actions are utterly futile in the face of international indifference.

doing something for the planet, nothing will change until there is a catastrophe planet wide and everbody feels it, save the earth should go to china and india and the usa, probably get shot in china, arrested in the u.s and india...i think only a literal meltdown will focus the minds of the powers that be, wood burners meh.
