Canada, who should pay for it, as the Canadian Prime Minster says that they won't once Harry has stopped his Royal duties in March.

I guess if they want security now, it is up to them to pay for it.
While I have never been a Royalist, I appreciate that we should pay for security for the Royals- as it is the public's fault they need it. That is not the case for ex-Royals in Canada though.

that may not be possible if you are looking at millions for their security. It also a case that British Police if out in Canada will not be be to carry firearms.

He's opted out of the Royal Family as far as work is concerned to make his own way and earn his own money so out of the millions and millions probably coming his and Meghan's way, he can pay for his own security. He really does have a sense of entitlement. Even Prince Andrew had to give way on the taxpayer paying for security for his daughters who carried out no royal duties and he pays for that himself.

Dai Davies, my old boss, has said this predicament has not arisen in the hundred years or so of Royalty Protection. I am aware that Edward V111 had a minder prior to his abdication who often bailed him out literally. Try ,as I may, I haven't managed to find evidence that he was protected in France leading up to the second World War when he fled. I cannot ascertain if he had protection in the Bahamas either. I know that he was a person of great interest to M15 due to his pro Nazi sympathies but that is not close protection.
It was Prince Harry's decision along with his wife to desert his royal duties. He or the Royal purse should pay for their security now. Obviously Harry didn't think this situation through clearly. His mother would undoubtedly be still alive had she been afforded proper police protection along with the logistics and back up that comes with it. The tax payer should no longer pay their bill.

In my opinion, the majority of Canadian tax-payers would object strongly to having to be responsible for the expense of paying for the couples' security.

They are both multi-millionaires in their own right and can well afford to pay for their own security, like all the other multi-millionaires do. One can't have ones cake and eat it can one?
