Call blocker phones are the answer. We have many many blocked 'International numbers' on our phone which do not get through, probably half a dozen a day.

if we stuck to the thread this wouldn't happen.....
i am glad they got these people, and may they catch many more, to stop this awful trade in misery.
The BEEB have been exposing those who prey on others for ages, Emmie. That's Life, Watchdog, etc. I think you do them a disservice.
Question Author
perhaps, but i am glad that these have been caught..
These people are total scum, of that there is no doubt, but that aside, I can completely see where Buenchico is coming from.

A fool and his money are soon parted, and if people are willing to part with 00s and sometimes 000s on the strength of a phone call, then more fool them.

I don't care how old somebody is, parting with money on the strength of a phone call is nuts. I know a few people in their 80s and they remain sharp as tacks and there's no way they'd be conned like this, so I would suggest it's not an age thing, it's a gullibility thing, and there's not a great deal we can do about people being gullible, and gullibility affects all age groups, all the time there are con-artists at large.
Being pleased someone got scammed is akin to being pleased some bunch of louts kicked away someone's crutches and watched them have a nasty fall. Or being pleased someone with no burglar alarm on their house had it stripped clean while they were out. Or maybe being pleased that someone in a low cut dress got horribly sexually assaulted. None are really justifiable points of view. But I expect they all were taught a lesson, or something like that.

this seems to be on an industrial scale, we are not talking about small amounts of money.. i hate these people
Question Author
i totally agree OG.
Oh look, a club is forming.

Air punchers of the world unite, you have nothing to lose but the respect of others.
^^^There is nothing in my answer that has celebrated these people being conned - try again.

I have however pointed out that people must be gullible to part with money on the strength of a phone call, and if they are gullible enough, then more fool them. That is not a celebration.
Question Author
nothing to celebrate is it....
if your getting calls from the same people, but different number
they are using a voip system to change there phone numbers, they can call from anywhere in the world, get a call blocker or ask your phone provider to filter your calls, talktalk do it for me, if you know older people as risk help them set up call blocking.
The sad fact is that many of the people who get scammed probably have some form of dementia. Many will have also lived in an age when you trusted people. Those who applaud these scammers are just as bad as them, if not worse.
Question Author
just what i think, i can't understand any one applauding them at all
