No surprise really is it? It’s going to spread exponentially on a daily basis, wonder what the figures will be this time next week.

Very high, I would suppose. I feel rather lucky that I live very rurally with just two or three houses as neighbours that are not that near to us. I shall have to become a hermit as I'm classed as vulnerable. I shall have to spray my husband with germicide every time he comes back from outside!! We have no public transport at all.
the first one in the UK has died
It appears that the Spanish are trialing HIV drugs to combat Coronavirus. Early days yet but the prognosis looks favourable.
All every encouraging retrocop. I'm a little concerned because I am now asthmatic and wasn't when OH and I managed to contract bird-flu, or whatever it was called, on the Paris metro 10 years ago (he whipped me off to a weekend in Paris for my 60th birthday - we spent the following weeks in bed, but not in a nice way. :( ) Oh well, what will be, will be.
supa-spreading is now a big deal in epidemics they say

that is 20% of the infected do 80% of the snotting and gobbing and giving it to other people - and so we re stuck with it

and would it be different if we paid people enough so they didnt say - "Jesus I have to get up and give it to other people [in fact everyone on my care circuit] because I need The Money!" [ and no one will know it was little me etc etc]

we will never know .....
// and combines antiretroviral medication lopinavir-ritonavir, with interferon beta

ah was it ronald ross and his associates - "I will never again doubt a result on theoretical grounds?" - [disbelief that malaria would be found outside the human body ie inside a mozzie - manson I think]

corona virus is a single strand positive RNA virus which is translated on the get-go - the RNA can code for protein straightaway.

Lopsidomere interferes with RNA going backwards to DNA and then the DNA instructing RNA ( negative this time - geddit?) which can be translated. Certainly not the get-go, but a few steps inbetween

and so on theoretical grounds - try it on a few and see

yes you are right this is the Baltimore classification of viral replication and has lasted the test of time (1973)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baltimore_classification

o come on reader it makes a difference to the acres and acres of "answers" on the lines of 'foo what dat den?' - where Baltimore den? - you always say dat - dat dat den what? - 'foo!" and so on and so on and even the familiar Nigh-line: this is not my last word on this subject!

According to Sky News a second person has died here today of COVID-19.
Sorry LB. I have just opened a new thread on this breaking news before reading your update here.
No worries Retro. It happens.
