The Real Donald Trump

Trump seems to have no ' embarrasment gland'; he opens his mouth and seems to be impressed by what he hears issuing forth even though much of it has bypassed the 'reasoning' areas present in a normal human brain. When his more bizarre pronouncemen ts are deconstructe d into the illogical, childish and petulant rhetoric they so obviously are, I think it is...

I haven’t watched it but as has said he says daft things sometimes.
But.
He was making preparations, You just didn’t see them. And perhaps, just perhaps trying to quell the inevitable panic.
But when you have just given an address to the nation on what is happening and what your administration is doing and the press are more interested in calling you racist, well someone like Trump is going to call you something back.
That Buffoon has done more (Coronavirus not withstanding) for America in three years of constant and continual hate but still carry’s on.
That buffoon carry’s on improving the lives of Americans even though he is continually attacked and blocked at every turn.
So that buffoon, at the centre of it all is still leading in spite of the left and Democrats.
Go figure.

What I said at the time he announced it was:
// But it's still reasonable to say that there's no point in banning flights from Schengen countries. The disease is already in the US, and already widespread there. This action, then, serves little to no purpose. //
If there's any problem with his ban on travel from Europe, then, it's that it came too late to have much of an impact.

Have you seen the clip?
Also, when you say he was making preparations, can you be sure? I saw an interview where he asked whether flu medication could be used to fight Corvid-19.
And let's not forget that he is on record as saying “No, I don’t take responsibility at all, when asked about the lag in testing.
Remember his tweets about Obama in 2013?
“Leadership: Whatever happens, you’re responsible. If it doesn’t happen, you’re responsible.”

I'm not sure a travel ban would ever have been effective. The disease had probably moved out of Wuhan before anyone there had got sick, or, certainly, before anyone had a chance to recognise this for what it was.
Maybe bringing it in sooner would have reduced the risk of spread in the US, but the problem is that even then a travel "ban" still means that your own citizens have to return home, and you still have to be able to detect the disease in order to screen it.
None of this means that I disagree with Trump's decision to have imposed the ban, from either China or Europe. It may not have been effective, but it made sense to try.
