Great news for migrants. No need to be smuggled in the back of a lorry or cross the channel in a dingy anymore.
Now you can come in to the UK on a special free flight in the middle of a pandemic to live in tight communities and pick fruit.
Six months ago the government was sending them in the opposite direction.
They might have ID, and they are clearly necessary, but what a shame they are. What happened to benefits being stopped if you were fit but didnt take on work that was available?
since most of those who arrive in rubber boats or in the backs of lorries are doctors, surgeons, nurses or highly qualified engineers or academics (allegedly), they probably wouldn't qualify for the airlift.
I think mush has summed it up very nicely for you, needawin.
If your a manual labourer, you can get a flight here.
If your a professional, you have to take a rubber dinghy.
I agree Maydup- but it's the sort of job in a remote area where the workers stay on site in huts. I'd try it for a few weeks if I could drive there and back easily each day
Fruit needs to be picked, get the pickers in. They are isolated anyway and lets face it the Tories have pretty much trashed the economy to save a couple of lives, possibly.
Lets hope they will be forthcoming with cash next time an expensive drug is required or are Covid sufferers special?
