Taken from my FB page: A message to all our Negative UK Press - including Laura Kuenssberg of the BBC, Robert Peston of ITV, Beth Rigby of Sky, Piers Morgan of ITV, BBC News in general and all the other negative UK press. Journalism is missing the "mood" in this great country of ours - the United Kingdom. We do not want or need blame. We do not want constant criticism...

Yes, I thought Boris had misunderstood the question but he eventually addressed it from both sides, recognising that some in Cornwall rely on the tourism industry and some see safety as the priority. He could have been blunt and added 'but you can always move from Cornwall (when it's safe to do so) if you can't stand tourists)'
I wouldn't worry didly, unless BoJo can pull a rabbit out the hat by the end of the year he, and the rest of the Tories, will be toast for many years. If the Tories tank the economy what else is left for people to vote for with them? It doesnt matter whether they are right or wrong on this, that is what will happen.

I don't believe that for a moment. Most people aren't that stupid. They know what's happening and they know that the effect on the economy is unavoidable.

I am not aware of any political party in the UK that is not in broad agreement with the lockdown, and the overwhelming majority of the public support the lockdown, so which party will people turn to YMB? I have a feeling though that the Greens may do well- a lot of people I know have rediscovered the love of fresh clean air, countryside, less traffic, working from home, the move away from material pursuits ( a flash car doesn't seem as important to me now)
" so which party will people turn to YMB?"
I suspect many will return to Rodney's labour, particularly in the North if people end up on the bones of their ***.
I won't be but also I will think long and hard about voting Tory. I really dont think they have this right. They had better hope for a V shaped recovery to stand a chance.

Moral poll 28/4
//Brits are the least likely among comparable nations to support an easing of lockdown restrictions until the coronavirus is contained, a new poll has shown
The new Ipsos MORI study found the UK was the most cautious of 14 countries on the prospect of re-opening the economy and returning to work before the virus is fully under control.
The new polling comes amid a growing rift within the Conservative Party over the length of the lockdown, with some senior MPs and party donors urging Boris Johnson to begin re-opening sections of the economy.
But only 25% of Brits agreed with easing the lockdown before the virus is suppressed, with an overwhelming 70% believing that would be the wrong approach.
The UK's wary stance on re-opening the economy is matched only by Canada, followed by Mexico (65%), Spain and Australia (61%) and the United States (59%).Brits are the least likely among comparable nations to support an easing of lockdown restrictions until the coronavirus is contained, a new poll has shown

Some examples here, YMB. Just chosen to give a range of sources. You would be right though that they are MSM and some conspiracy/Brietbart type followers might argue not to be trusted.

I know support is probably slipping here but only slightly, and support is falling noticeably in France (particularly in ethnic suburbs?) and in US where Trump is playing a dangerous game with mixed messages, but it's still overwhelming support in my opinion. Certainly not 52:48 as per Brexit.
If you have alternative surveys though I'd be happy to see them and discuss or accept things may be changing faster than I thought

FF @ 08:59 - I think your thoughts will be widespread.
I don't believe things will ever be the same again.
I said weeks ago that the virus is only the first domino to fall.
There will be many more.
I have a real fear of what the next dominos will be.
This is a crisis to which there is no answer.
A vaccine will not restore us to life as was.

And no I dont have anything to support what I am saying, nothing I would consider reliable anyway - like dodgy youGov polls.
It doesnt matter anyway. In four years time many will simply look to how they have fared. If they are broke, homeless or simply see the tax payer funded lot are living high on the hog they will vote with their feet. Add to that the inevitable witch hunts (using hindsight) and I think you will see a backlash, even more so if our freedoms are still curtailed.
Add to that there is a good chance there will be no vaccine. If there isn't then that will spell big trouble for the Tories, and other Governments around the World.
