It is so sad, Bobbi.....and so much more to come.

Yes Gness, the travel and aviation sector will be be very hard hit with knock on effects
Many job losses were avoidable if common sense had been applied earlier. Panic and knee jerk reaction, fear, and false news, all have consequences.
I feel very sad about the collapse of this company. My husband drove for them for a number of years in his working life, now retired and I went on a few of their holidays. So sad to see and sadly there will be many more companies go. It is going to take a long time for life to get to anywhere near normal, if it ever does.
This is just the start of it.
A good friend of mine received a letter to say his company has gone into insolvency. I'm so worried about him because he is going to be in a desperate situation.

I've got a project going on which I am going to offer to him (he has the right skills and knowledge) but that will only be a short term thing.

Sadly I think there will be a lot of people in a horrid situation.
So sad. I have been on one of their coach trips to Rome.
very sad for all those facing this terrible dilemma

We've all been buying in supermarkets so perhaps it might have been wiser to allow other shops to remain open too.
^Sorry, that's not in keeping with the OP. I was thinking it isn't just the travel industry that's suffering. Oasis and Warehouse, among others, are also in trouble. When the High Street re-opens there will be nothing left to open.
Don't forget all those jobs going at Rolls Royce. The knock-on effect will be felt by small businesses nearby - particularly cafes and other eateries.
As I said on one of Bobbisox's threads yesterday, unfortunately there will be thousands looking for new jobs in the none too distant future.
Well apparently extending the lives of some people because they have COVID (or symptoms as no one checks the deaths) is worth trashing the lives of millions.

Utter lunacy, as I have said on here right up front; isolate the needy and let everyone else carry on. This is not a big killer like plague, it has been hyped out of all proportion by the MSM and scientists treating us all like one big lab. Scientists usually funded by taxpayers who have no concept of economy and what lack of one does to people especially the poor. Expect to see many more deaths caused by the poverty this will cause.
BA right there ^^^^, yep the cure is getting worse than the disease, we need to stop this madness now.

^ Could not agree more.
The company also owns hotels and the staff there have all lost their jobs as well. Some live in and have been told they are being kicked out in 28 days. (I agree with the post at 13:54 as well - been my thoughts from the start of this)
Politicians decide what steps to take, not the scientists. The scientists give advice and possible outcomes for various scenarios.

It is up to the politicians to weigh up the pros and cons to decide the best way forward.
High time for the Chinese politicians to start dipping into their deep pockets, then,Corby loon. This Aberdeen quine has had enough of their evasive stories.
TCL, whilst what you say is true as no one in the Government has the expertise in anything like this (indeed who does) then they have little choice but to follow the scientists.

So the scientists do, in effect, make the call.
I agree something needs to be done about the Chinese, however when I posted on here about boycotting them shouts of racism were heard, indeed someone else's thread got taken off under that banner.

But that is the only way we can make them pay. Boycott their goods and all be prepared to pay a little more for Non Chinese goods. In the long run it could well be cheaper.

This is not the first thing out of China and I dont trust their Government one bit, just look at what they are doing to HK now. Boris must remove the Huawei contract and any other one, put heavy tariffs on Chinese imports and put in place a plan to stop all travel from that country immediately anything likes this rears its ugly head again. Because there will be another on from them.
