... would like to find some excuse for this second breach of lockdown - after he was well and back at work - and when (presumably) the 'childcare' emergency was no longer valid reason?

I hope my specialist is still going to keep his bum clinic open.
// Cummings is going to make a statement this afternoon, I'll bet it wont be a resignation speech, or will it? //

here's a preview...….

best answer surely for Mambo no 2!

yeah and if he were an obstetrician - then babies would have to come out of the belly button as they once did ! owww!
Conservative Home's rolling list of Conservative MPs who’ve called on Cummings to go:

https://www.conservativehome.com/parliament/2020/05/rolling-list-of-conservative-mps-whove-called-on-cummings-to-go.html

Top of the list: those well-known lefties, Steve Baker and Peter Bone.

Perhaps those throwing out accusations of leftism and witch hunts should consider what axe those Tory MPs have to grind.

I think this chap sums up the problem quite well:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-52793619/if-people-stop-complying-all-of-us-will-lose-out

"If the public chose to [follow Cummings and] no longer comply with the lockdown guidelines, it could lead to another spike in coronavirus infections."

He is giving a press conference today. He has denied the bluebell wood trip and the other trip to Barnard Castle saying he was back in London. He is no fool. If he is proved right then all he accusers will be proved as liars! If not, then he has to resign. If you make too many enemies, you have to watch your every move!
Carole //If you make too many enemies, you have to watch your every move!//
He has an abundance of those.
Carole, I believe even the things he has admitted to and the PM has backed him up on - two adults with coronavirus symptoms driving 260 miles to Durham with a child in a car - are enough of a problem.
Danny - read my post properly and see that Cummings went to Durham BEFORE the rules re autistic people were relaxed. Therefore when he went there it was illegal. Simple isn't it?
I think we can be pretty damned assured that whatever he says will be lies, untruths, fabrications. The guy is a chancer and a total numptie.I wont be listening to his lies.
I'm looking forward to it, I'm quite prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. Too much baying like mad dogs on here!
No. 10 , rose garden 4pm .
By the way is this chancer paid for by us mug taxpayers or is he paid through the Tory Party. If i found out i have to pay a penny of his wages,i will be ***g furious.Signed,Angry from Aberdeen.
Trial by the media is never a good idea, even if guilty it's not the crime
of the century.
I think he is payed by the tax payer ?
It may not be the crime of the century, fcc but if folk think...well he did it so why not me....it could cause untold damage. Not to mention the pressure he'll be putting on the police force.
So you think anyone who broke lockdown should be sacked from their jobs?
There is a clear distinction between "anyone who broke lockdown" and "the architect* of the lockdown breaking lockdown".

*Or one of the main architects, at any rate.
Not so,any punishments for breaking any rule/law have to be the same for everyone.
I am waiting to see what Cummings says at 4pm before making any further comment. I expect he'll keep his job regardless, but for his sake, Johnson's sake and the country's sake he should at least make some concessions, eg "it was motivated by a genuine fear for the well-being of my child but I understand how it will be perceived at this difficult time and want to apologise for not being more open about my movements".

Anything less than that and, no matter whether what Cummings did was technically in the letter of the rules, crossing over 250 miles clearly and obviously breaks their spirit, and this is the absolute worst time for anything that undermines the Government's message to go unchallenged and unacknowledged by those who need our trust.
