It's interesting that after all the complaints from unions, councils, some teachers/heads and some AnswerBankers that it was too early, and after the low take up of primary places in years R,1 and 6 so far, the government has withdrawn its aim to get every primary year group back in some form (part time/full time) before September- yet now they are getting complaints that they are depriving children of an education, Even Scotland are boasting they are going back (August) before England and now scientists are saying we should be reopening for all.
It seems Gavin Williamson couldn't win on this.
I think the fact that teachers and unions remain on full pay and have a summer break approaching has been a factor- the threat of redundancies or furlough or reduced funding might have focussed minds just as it did with shops, the construction industry and zoos etc and will do with pubs and restaurants
