Why isn’t this BIG news? What’s the matter? Doesn’t it fit your stereotypes?

Hello anne, good to touch hands across the ether. Right is right, whether it's a minority view or not.

Allen.
Black man saves white thug from .... thugs. Right .....
Gherkin: I treat everyone the same isn't that what those calling racism want? None of my decisions or opinions are based on skin colour. If yours are then I'd say you need to look at yourself a bit me old china.
As I said, maybe it is worth trying to educate yourself. It's always good to try and better ourselves. You're making an embarrassment of yourself.
TTT, that, just from AB alone, you can see how few people are prepared to even acknowledge there is still a problem with racism. (I suspect mostly white people, from what I have seen). And the idea of "white privilege" seems outrageous to some, because they then think they have to apologise or feel guilty for things they never personally did. The irrationality is quite insane. It isn't a personal attack on white people, nobody has suggested all lives don't matter... but the general hysteria is shocking.
//the general hysteria is shocking. //

Shameful I'd say.
That too.
Indeed. The BLM brigade - and the associated hijackers - really do need to calm down.
Gherkins:"As I said, maybe it is worth trying to educate yourself. It's always good to try and better ourselves." - ok what should I do? I already said I do not base anything on skin colour, is that not what I should be doing?
"You're making an embarrassment of yourself." - look in the mirror mate, I am the one who is not racist at all here, as far as I can tell you are encouraging us to treat people differently based on their skin colour, now you are the "expert" here but I'd say that is racism.
Are you quite finished? You said "skin colour does not affect my views of someone". I said "I think it's honourable to acknowledge and respect that they may have struggled and been subject to treatment you couldn't possible comprehend.".

You are happy to act like everything is okay. I am happy to acknowledge that things aren't, which is obvious by the hysteria on answerbank.

Does that make me racist? No it makes me respectful. Something you know nothing about as can be seen by how you talk to people on the internet that you don't know.

>"I think it's honourable to acknowledge and respect that they may have struggled and been subject to treatment you couldn't possible comprehend."

Shouldn't we treat everyone that way, regardless of colour, gherkins?

I'm not sure it's gherkins who is full of himself. We have a seemingly neverending supply on AB of white people denying racism, males denying sexism. Easy when you aren't personally affected, I guess. Why listen to what other people think?
"Shouldn't we treat everyone that way, regardless of colour, gherkins?"

I am not implying that we shouldn't, fiction-factory. Colour is just one aspect we should respect, rather than ignore.
Ok, my reply was to a removed answer.
FF, yes, when everyone is at the same point, that is the aim. Much as we would hope so, and I always thought so... we haven't got there yet. If we just carry on as we have, we will continue as we are.
I think you're contradicting yourself a bit now, Gherkins.
When I'm meeting a class of school children for the first time should I treat the white children and black children differently by assuming the latter may have benefitted from white privilege and the others have may struggled? And what about the AMEs?
fiction-factory, I think you're being a bit silly now. You're misunderstanding and I don't have the time to help you understand every possible racist encounter you may have with a class of diverse school children.

One thing I can say is that you would acknowledge that there are black students in your class and be sure not to say anything that could be perceived as racist. You would do that because you can acknowledge that you are black. ToraToraTora is saying he doesn't see colour. He can't respect the different paths we have travelled down.
Of course not. Assuming anything isn't helpful. But I'm sure you would believe them, if they told you their experiences, any of them.
Sorry, I meant to say that you can acknowledge that they are black.
