We are not being told, another outbreak of the virus at a meat processing plant in Tipton, in the west midlands, on last nights news, this is after outbreaks in France ( meat factory) and Germany. in Germany 1.500 tested for the virus at one meat processing plant, taking the R from 1.06 too 2.88. So is all this being kept at a low profile so it don't affect the meat sales, a bit like the foot and mouth problem we had some years. No other factories that I know that don't produce meat products are having these high numbers of infections.

Would a factory which produced something like ball bearings be news worthy?

Many people have had it and didn't even know. Factories producing consumables might be testing more.

12.29 Any factory would be news worthy under the present situation. For the powers that be to say, " it is unlikely that you could catch the virus from meat products" is the normal response in an effort to protect the industry from a slump in sales, regardless of what risks may be there, unlikely means they don't know, so that's dangerous in my book.

Ummmm has a point -perhaps there are thousands of people working in non food environments that have or have had the virus. Do supermarket workers get tested? those who are 'picking' for delivery and pick up?

I'm not here to convince anyone, All I'm saying is that I've seen it all before were they, or whoever, will go all out to protect a business regardless of lives.

This virus is not going away. We have to learn to live with it just like we live with flu and other diseases that can kill.

Ball bearing factories do not have chilled areas with minimal ventilation. This virus doesn't like heat.

It doesn't auger well for our cold winter months though.

12.55 lets say for such a dangerous virus, its being kept very low key, as for the outbreak in Wales it was kept out of the news for nearly nine days, before Hancock decided to let the cat out of the bag. Strange that?

Apparently its a mixture of things.....very hard to socially distance, the factories are hard to ventilate and the air is both cold and damp. Heat does kill the vitus but I won't be eating steak tartare any time soon

The meat is also transported by refrigerated lorries thus helping the virus to survive from factory to store, there's a lot more meat products being shipped round the world than people who are coughing and sneezing.

nope - awful trump non-sequitur which he was made to back down on = if you test less then there is less disease around ....

a third were testing positive in the factory and the rate in the population is meant to be around 1 - 2000

I've seen quite a few videos of food markets in China and India where the conditions are horrendous . I remember thinking, thank goodness we have rules and regulations in our country and this would not happen here. Of course this isn't always true. We have environmental health who go round closing eateries because the standards are poor. We've had supermarkets selling horse meat without us knowing. We've had other food factories closed because of health risks, so how can we be 100% sure that the Covid-19 isn't somehow connected to food and the places it is processed? I'm sure not every factory are following the guidelines.
