I will always support you Andie, especially when I can as you say add nothing to the discussion !
It is a conservative ex police minister who is doing the referring
it may be typical AB blaaaart see above - made without knowledge of the case fr'instance
he may not be able to since he is not connected to the case - you know like people on AB - MPs just say things and insist they are true
[ like the grounds are that the jury would have brought back a verdict of murder but didnt because they said they werent got at - - - but were.
- even stating the possible grounds, readers will realise that there are some pretty steep hills to climb on that one]

overturning the verdict
oh my god this will make you laugh but
gives an idea of how hard it is ( not english law)
The legal process is sacred to professionals in the field, and the trial process is almost always fair and reasonable. A judge will never interfere with a jury's decision and process unless there is a legitimate reason. This is why it's so rare for a judge to overturn a verdict.

// Make an example of them
they are white
then there is no fear of racist card being played//
did someone really write that ? or has my tongue in cheek meter gone out? ( white-racist, geddit)
anyway so many people hanging outside AB offices wiv placards around their necks - "mod baiter" and " I whispered the Ed was a stupid cow",
might a) attract police attention (at last) b mess up the nighbour hood, c) get greta complaining about the gore
oh sorry sorry you were talking about hanging someone else, sozza ( honest )

APG - // If Moderators can't take 'Flack' they should not be a Moderator in the first place! //
Why the presumption that the role of Moderator opens up the individual to hostility, and that is simply OK by virtue of the individual taking on the role?
I am perfectly happy to deal with any and all hostility based on my being an AB'er, that's a level playing field, but when people post nonsense like "That post is unacceptable from a Moderator …" then that is wrong because all Moderators are AB'ers first and last, and as entitled to their views as anyone else, and not subject to some nameless set of regulations that means that the freedom of others to speak as they wish is denied to them.

roy - // Why close a thread that has had offending answers removed? //
Usually because it is attracting unacceptably hostile exchanges, and basically spinning its wheels - that is usually why they are stopped from what I can see.
// On top of that, often a closed thread is reopened leading to a fragmented debate. //
A thread can be closed in error, and is therefore re-opened, or the thread can be closed by a Moderator and the Editorial Team decide that the closure was unjustified, and they can re-open it - obviously the last word is theirs alone.
