As I was driving to the shops I noticed a sign today by the roadside suggesting motorists avoid Brixton Hill today as there was a demonstration. How Ironic if it was a BLM march considering the particular communities that are in the majority of the three areas mentioned in the link.
BLM? 'Go tell it to the Marines' as they say,

Shoreditch a BLM hellhole? Fiddlesticks. It's one of the most gentrified areas in London.

BLM, "Go tell it to the Marines" do you really mean send for Baldric ?.
He is probably down at the Coop at the moment doing bit of late night shopping
//Shoreditch a BLM hellhole? Fiddlesticks.//

Who mentioned Shoreditch and who called it hellhole? All I can find in the links on offer is this little "report".

""Video footage emerged on Friday night of crowds brawling near Shoreditch High Street station after reports of an unlicensed “block party”.

A police officer was injured as he tried to intervene. MPS Tower Hamlets tweeted: “There is a crime scene near #Shoreditch tube station, after a police officer on patrol was hit with a bottle shortly after 10pm.""

I suppose your perception of what is gentrified depends on your background.
Shoreditch is in Hackney and, as you say, there was violence near the station.

Croydon's one of London's whiter areas.

I can't speak for Brixton, though.

Really? Whiter areas? What are the other "areas" called? Or is that a racist question? I hope that no one calls them hell holes or tries to profile the residents.
" 'Go tell it to the Marines' as they say,"

Man down, aisle five. Medic!
Now, now:)
Everyone's jumping on BLM as usual here, but none of the articles mention that it was one of their protests. I'd have thought that if they were involved, the press, especially The Mail, would be all over them.

Given that the phrase 'Go tell it to the Marines' is a scornful response to a tall or unbelieved tale it would appear to be a non-sequitur here.

Idiot.
They seldom seem to report the ethnicity of the victims /suspects.
Strange that.
there is that small factual point, Mozz, yes. Two of the incidents appeared to be tied to individual shootings and the other to a street rave.
The OP typed...

//if it was a BLM march//

Best to check.
it did seem the OP was anticipating the joy of irony, but he may have been thwarted. If only he'd read his own link.
Exactly. 'If' it was a BLM march. Which it wasn't. Which makes the entire post and the final comment 'BLM? Go tell it to the Marines' contradictory, fantastical and total nonsense.

I lived two miles from Shoreditch for 24 years. I return for a fleeting visit now and again. It was an unmitigated, tatty dump then and it is an unmitigated, tatty dump now. The presence of a few trendy businesses of dubious value and a smattering of bars and vegan cafes do little to mitigate that. The only beneficial change is that TfL developed what was previously the isolated East London Line, extending it north and south and subsuming it into the London Overground. This now passes through Shoreditch (instead of terminating there) thus affording those unfortunate souls living there direct access to somewhat more pleasant areas. "Gentrification" is a very misleading term when it comes to places like Shoreditch.
