I don't imagine I could phone the police on my neighbours for having a 6+ gathering , I'd simply stay well away till it was over

No I definitely would not, no matter how many were gathering. It's all getting ridiculous, they are losing public support with all these stupid rules and frankly I hope there is a mass public rebellion. How many died yesterday, nine? That's nine that were infected, not nessasarily killed by the virus. Oh yes apparently if we don't obey there could another...

Absolutely not.
I couldn't care less if my neighbours had 20 people round for a BBQ - aside from the fact the risk remains tiny, reporting on neighbours smacks of communist states.
(Why is 'neighbour' underlined as being spelled incorrectly, but 'neighbor' isn't? How long has AB been favouring (favoring!) American spelling?).

depends. If it was the odd extra person, I wouldn't know, if it was like the family who used to live near me (garden backed onto mine) who had huge noisy parties every weekend, then absolutely like a shot and the rest of their neighbours would be queuing up to do it too. To be honest, while there has to be a limit set somewhere, I don't think the police will be bothered, nor Public Health England, if there are seven people at an indoor family gathering instead of six. I do think that they will want to discourage and deal with large gatherings.
No, I wouldn’t - and no, I couldn’t.
We went to our regular pub last night and for the first time had to wait at the door whilst we gave our details for the tracking and tracing thing. Once inside the ‘gathering’ was probably of about 100 people and all was perfectly legal. However, if my neighbour throws a party for 20 today, I am asked to report her for illegal activity. Potty.
As it has been since the beginning, the government is following the advice of the ‘experts’ and is no doubt doing what it thinks best but asking neighbours to report what has now become a criminal offence is a step far too far. I find it quite sinister.

The economy is number one priority or there will be many more deaths due it being totally destroyed. Boris isfrightened to death. Get a grip man, as everyone should, get used to it, the virus is here to stay just like flu.
In fairness, dave, Boris can’t do right for doing wrong. If he ‘gets a grip’ (as I think we all should) he’ll be lambasted as uncaring and cynical - if he doesn’t ‘get a grip’ and carries on with petty rules and changes to those rules, people like you and me become frustrated by the hysteria of it all. He can’t win - and I really think the same would apply to anyone in his position. An eminently unenviable one.
I'm not sure in reality she would report them for a modest breach , just as most wouldn't report a reasonably behaved group of say 8, but I'm not sure what else she could say. She is the Home secretary and I'm not sure she could have said, for example, "no- it'd be none of my business " or "the line had to drawn somewhere but we really only want to tackle clear breaches such as a houseparty for 20"
The rule of 6 seems right to me- it covers most situations and police will rightly prioritise much larger gatherings. Unfortunately a lot of people don't realise it's there to help them and just see it as an imposition on freedoms. I can fit in quite easily with the rule of 6- it doesn't inconvenience me at all.
