I will give a link, but it just illustrates
that the BAME community is complaining that the Government is not doing enough research into why they are more badly affected by Covid. On the news on BBC radio this morning, it was stated that the uptake of volunteers to test the vaccines is very, very low (as is that of the over 65s) I can understand it with the over 65s, because many will have other health issues and be very hesitant to test a vaccine. But how can you help the BAME community if they are not willing to come forward to try and help themselves.

Perhaps some main stream media appeals will gather more volunteers from underrepresented groups.

I can understand reticence in the unknown from almost anyone to be fair.

Me too, but if you have lots of medical problems it would be rather silly to put yourself forward. They probably wouldn't accept you on trials either!

It is the same with going on the Bone Marrow Registry and for blood donations

There's a big push re BAME and blood donations at the moment and it is showing slow but steady success.

Calmc ... so true re blood donations and BONE MARROW REGISTRY. Bame not enough registrations. In fact bone marrow registry / (stem cell registry) Is not known about my MANY people.

Sorry to hijack orig post but I’m My husband is an acute myeloid leaukaemia survivor. If he relapses he has one (yes one!!) matching donor in the entire world, .... and many aren’t even that lucky,

Blood cancer is not talked about enough In general. For many chemo alone will not work. They must have a match to Reboot their own bone marrow to survive!

Dkms take registration for donors up to age 55 and all you do literally is pop a cheek swab in the post,

I timed it - it took me 3 minutes to join online. 3 minutes to go on standby to save a life of someone. Not only in U.K. but anywhere in the world,

To donate stem cells is easy - it is A similar process to (but not the same as) Donating blood and takes an average of 6 hours to do (for the donor)
