The Queen, Prince William and her entourage went on a visit today, nobody was wearing a face mask.Even the people she went to visit were not wearing one. Is it really one rule for them and another rule for us?

TTT I do not have a chip on my shoulder.I have seen Camilla and the Cambridges even the Sussex's wearing face masks, so why not the Queen? It's because the Queen, just like the Queen Mum is all about appearances. Don't get me wrong,I love our Queen but I just feel by doing this, she is not setting a good example. End of rant.
But she doesn't have to wear a face mask at all times, that's not the law, it's up to the individual and let's face it people who go to see her want to see her lovely smile, I know I would.
You must have read your own link.

//Heightened safety precautions were taken to protect the Queen, with all 48 people due to come into close contact with her and William tested for Covid-19 by Dstl beforehand and, while the testing process is still not foolproof, all came back negative.//

You,I and the man and woman across the street don't have anyone to make things as safe for us.
danny: "TTT as has been said a trillion times, masks are not intended to protect the wearer, they are there to protect others from someone who might have the virus. " - yes and I explained why they don't in the post above yours.
Someone should tell the medical profession about the pointlessness of masks. They all seem to wear them when they're doing operations etc. They could surely save a bit of money if they knew they had zero effect.
//When did the rule come in that masks have be worn at all times??//

It hasn't yet, marjie. But it will, as sure as night follows day.
I know it hasn't NJ, I was just bemused by the OP picking on the Queen like that. I hope you're wrong, I despise wearing the things, but nothing about all this madness would surprise me!
Excellent role model it seems.
tomus, medics have masks that work. Most of us do not.
All rather pointless, as anyone is exempt from wearing a mask provided they have a valid reason not to do so, which does not have to be proved.
Your sarcasm doesn't work in this instant, tomus. Medical standard fitted masks can help avoid bacterial infection. These public scarf things that are on & off, not used properly are hardly that helpful. Besides we need to develop immunity as a society; hospitals, on the other hand, don't benefit much from internal outbreaks among their ill patients.

Porton Down is a workplace. Under the HaSaWA it's the employer's responsibility to ensure the safety of their staff. if that includes wearing face coverings fair enough, but there is no legal mandate for face coverings in the workplace. (at least, not yet.)
the queen was probably safer in Porton Down then anywhere else. They work every day with substances 100 times more toxic than the coronavirus, of all people, these would know about safety.
There is only one person other than Trump ,who looks better wearing a face mask , and that is Boris.
Maybe the Queen is exempt. She may have problems breathing in a mask at 94,
Look at the bruises on her legs.
Woofgang at 2.34pm - when did the 2m social distancing become a rule?
