NHS was at risk of being overwhelmed 7 months ago but it wasn't could that have been because action was taken? My main criticism of Boris isn't that he does the wrong thing but that he does the right thing weeks too late. He wants to be loved so he dithers about imposing harsh measures and tries to make sure he's got a scapegoat lined up.

"The Govt can’t magic up nurses and doctors. There’s no Aladdin’s lamp solution."

So why pay millions to create the Nightingale hospitals unless the hoodwink the public or feather their mates nest?
I’ve no idea, YMB. But you need to stop criticising the NHS.
"I suppose I can't help but wonder how it took you so long to see through Johnson,"

I wanted Bresit after months of attempted sabotage.

On the modelling I think the disgrace Ferguson has a lot to answer for. Look I am a programmer I will go with something ecplained but this is not. If I was testing this with the data I have then I would be back in that code faster than a rat up a drin pipe. It simply doesn't add up.

Second peak is good for me Jim :-)
‘ I am a programmer’

Of what?
"But you need to stop criticising the NHS."

Why? They caused a lot of the deaths sending people back into care homes for a start.

In addition I suspect I know a lot more about the NHS than you do.
NOT brilliant, far from it. Unless we admit that we wont get the Health service we want and pay for.
Of compute programs ZM, but you know that.
I’m not sure you know more about the NHS than I do, YMB. For instance, it wasn’t them who sent people back into care homes. OK, it was, but under the instructions of......
I’d no idea you were a computer programmer, YMB. I actually find that quite frightening. I sincerely hope it’s nothing of any import.
" I actually find that quite frightening. I sincerely hope it’s nothing of any import."

Sanctimonious git
I was all against people being discharged into care homes, and it was a very big mistake by government/ NHS, but then you have to look at the whole picture, care homes were very quick to take the money if they had empty rooms that they wanted to fill. They say money is the route of all evil, money is the biggest reason we are struggling .
I see you have no valid argument and have resorted to personal insults. Again. Ever played the Scarcrow in Wizard of Oz? You’d be perfect.
I'm sure that Neil Ferguson's model neither is, nor ever was, the only one used in SAGE. It's just the one that grabbed the most media attention, especially in March, and I suppose that (plus Ferguson's complicated personal life) has kept his work in the public eye more than the many other modelling groups. I'd be worried if there were only one group/model in use, for sure.

Just, briefly, on the subject of Brexit, all I would say to that is that it should have been obvious that it was only ever a means to an end for Johnson, that end being personal power. I don't think he envisaged *this* in his first year of leadership, though.
Teacake, care homes don't have the choice. If someone is discharged from hospital, they have to be able to go home.
By go home, pixie does that include a care home they have never been in before hospitalisation?
No, gness... but my experience is that people went to hospital, from a care home, for certain reasons, and were sent back home with covid.
Also, none were tested on leaving the hospital. They only were once they got to the home.
Ah I see. My mother's care home took in three new residents from the local hospital with the assurance they had been tested and were negative. The home tested and found all three were positive but it was too late. My mother was one who died from Covid as a result of their admission to the home. Twenty nine residents and staff contracted the virus and an inquiry is ongoing. Doubt we will ever see the outcome of the inquiry.
That is awful.... I'm so sorry xx
Thank you...x
For what it's worth ymb, I agree with everything you say.
