It's funny how most of the states are counted, done and dusted and it just so happens that the swing states are going to take a fortnight! There was some official from one state or other on sky news this morning saying that they wont be finished until the 12th because of their "timeline" worryingly she said something about "fixing" the votes though I think that's an Americanism for dealing with the ones that are unclear. Anyway have they set up their election counting laws so they get a lot of time in the limelight?
You do get the sense that they're enjoying the attention. Perhaps when someone crosses the 270 and no-one cares too much about the remaining numbers, they'll magically all appear fairly quickly.
As far as I know Pennsylvania’s legislators are mainly Republican so they made the law in that state.
All votes should have been in and counted in advance. This happened in places like Florida and Ohio, where the opposite happened and Biden led was overtaken. Alternatively they should have waited and counted everything late, but then can’t wait :-)
"As far as I know Pennsylvania’s legislators are mainly Republican so they made the law in that state. " - how is that relevant to this question? I have not mentioned sides.
//“ It's funny how most of the states are counted, done and dusted and it just so happens that the swing states are going to take a fortnight!”
So what did you mean by that then? // - I mentioned no party, it's quite clear what I meant from the title of the post, it looks like the states that know they are swing states and the attention will be on them have taken measures to maximise that time in the lime light.
Well to start with only Pennsylvania out of the four is a “rust belt” state. Which is why I mentioned it specifically.
I don’t know what you mean by “showboating”: these States are the focus of huge interest, unsurprisingly.
Pennsylvania has a huge number of votes to count in different counties and in different batches. Some votes have to be held back as they are subject to question.
Why would they spin it out deliberately?
Yes and as CNN are pointing out Georgia is Republican Central. The entire state machinery is run by republicans. They are managing the count and would manage any recount.
None of them are crying foul.
Also, this is slightly off topic, but rules in senate elections in Georgia state that the winner needs to poll 50% plus or there has to be a runoff. In the light of the above there may be another democrat senate gain on the cards
I'm trying o decide if you are being deliberately obtuse, the answer is given in the title of this post! Show boating they are loving their time on the news 24/7 for gawd knows how long.
Alaska will take several weeks. I don’t think anyone cares.
Also don’t forget that votre still have to come in from overseas. As always, and if those numbers stand to be crucial then that will hold things up even more.
But Joe Biden is on the brink I’d say of being able to declare victory. So effectively it WILL be over
