While I've no doubt that CNN will ultimately be proved right, it's worth noting that the US media 'call' a state when they're confident of their prediction of the result there, rather than waiting until the result has actually been announced (as is the BBC's policy).

That's why CNN's website is currently referring to a 'projection', rather to a 'result':
