The Chairman of the FA has resigned after making two bad comments
He referred to coloured players as black?
And said being Gay was a lifestyle choice
What has he done to create the anti race lobby to go into meltdown by saying it was racist calling a coloured player Black when the coloured people themselves created BLACK LIVES MATTER
On the second remark, I agree he's bang out of order to suggest being Gay is a lifestyle choice, it isn't !!!

oh god you re all still at it
//he (pres T ) has turned the notion of being offensive into an art form//
but clearly NOT to 45m of them. Andy stop reading here! very long word alert ! Your brayne may explode like in that horror scene in Scanners

why is coloured a naughty word ( see above)
it is a taboo word. ( a taboo action would be a V sign or urinating in public in the UK) - more generally - what dat den?
but also how does a word become taboo ?

and how does it leave - moll was deffo taboo for lady of the night and now no one minds. Sanitary moved from clean to women monthly appliance = and became taboo. Sanitary St just oppo to Clarion was renamed Anita St.
and let us speak of the police stations on Pig Lane.

er where are the sociologists ?

are there some societies where words are taboo and not elsewhere? yup rubber springs to mind. and that is where the FA chmn might have slipped up. by remarking that coloured was a required term by law in some legal systems ( specifically the Roman Dutch system in south africa).

and taboos will always be with us: they just change
// Woke is just another term the usual suspects use to describe those of us who are more Liberal than they are.//

You who are ‘Woke’ aren’t liberal though. You just gaze through the rosy glow created by your own sanctimonious imaginations congratulating yourselves on your liberalism, completing ignoring the reality that with claimed liberalism comes immovable intolerance for that with which you do not agree. In short, bigotry.
Peter - // Andy stop reading here! very long word alert ! Your brayne may explode like in that horror scene in Scanners //

Post your bizarre ramblings if you must, but kindly leave me out of them.

Thank you.
From an article in The Sun a couple of moths ago.

//According to the Oxford English Dictionary "woke" is defined as: "Originally: well-informed, up-to-date. Now chiefly: alert to racial or social discrimination and injustice."

The Urban Dictionary, however, simply says: "Being woke means being aware… knowing what’s going on in the community (related to racism and social injustice)."

To summarise: woke means a person is consciously awake.//

If that's all there is to it, then the world could do with more wokeness.
I prefer naomi's explanation at 22:55.
So do I. Concise and to the point.
Words and descriptions you are not allowed to say change all the time, it's difficult to keep up and if you are a heterosexual male, God help you if you make a mistake and say the wrong word.
That is so true. We're now at the point where one dare not open one's mouth for fear of being accused of not being PC.
^ Indeed.

No contact from the FA or their lawyers yet?

They may be mulling.
Question Author
It was being discussed with Piers Morgan this morning when he interviewed Patrick Hutchinson, the brave fellow that carried a white protestor to safety when the mass demos were in London about the killing of George Floyd in the USA
Piers asked
" what's the difference saying a coloured person to saying ' a person of colour'? Which is used freely, Mr Hutchinson said saying a 'coloured person means all different colours and not a black person'
Confused?
I was !
Me too. Actually, in South Africa in the days of apartheid there was a difference. Blacks were blacks and other dark-skinned people were coloured. People with yellow skin were deemed honorary whites!
^ The Simpsons then^
In Oz, according to long standing friends blacks are N******s i was so shocked when i heard that word, didn't think it right at all.
i still don't
Surely a person of colour means anyone who is not pure white. So as I tan darkly includes me!

Black actually picks out one race and I wonder if that is why Black people prefer it. Many are known for their dislike of a certain religion most of whom are 'brown' so maybe they dont want to be lumped in together?

Who knows, wouldn't it just be easier if everyone just got on?
All this sort of thing does is drive division. Problem is humans are on the whole tribal so I cant see it happening anytime soon.
Can I ask what wokey-Mozz thinks of this commercial?

Leave Homer out of this, Yellow Lives Matter!
Just another classic case of political correctness gone mad.
Roy, I've seen the prose before, if not the ad. Honestly, I'm happy to refer to an individual however they want (with reason). It makes no difference to me either way.
The English FA has been irrelevant for half a century. It is run as a Gentleman’s Club, and is stuck in the 1950s. It is not fit for purpose in 2020, as was demonstrated by Clarke in Parliament.

But him resigning won’t change the organisation. It needs a complete overall from the top down.

30 years ago, the Premier League was formed outside of the FA set up. Primarily because the multi Million pound businesses which were the modern football club were being badly served by the amateurish FA. With that the power shifted, but the FA never learned their lesson.

The English FA which has never supported Women’s football (and actively discourage it) again were trapped in their past when Women’s football took off. That popularity was again led by the clubs and not the FA. The clubs realised there was money to be made from the Women’s teams, and set up their own teams. That was largely influenced by the US and Europe but the English Clubs were quick to catch on. But the FA weren’t. The fact you have a high ranking FA bod spout nonsense to a parliamentary committee is demonstration that he should not have that job, but more importantly, that the FA must reform itself.
