You can't write 'until we are prepared to acknowledge that source' and then say 'I've made no assumptions' unless you have a direct line to the police cheif in Trier which we don't know about.

It is a contradiciton, and you denying it does not make it not so. The evidence is there, and everyone else can make up their mind.

You can convince yourself that your stance is consistent and unwavering, I can read and deduce that it clearly is not.
