Disgraceful that this sum of money should be spent on unveiling her statue in the midst of a pandemic and economic crisis.

Is that a trick question, Emmie?!
what Ken,
I wondered if they were a Labour led council, seems not
no matter - its going to take a lot of flak, and i guess some of the money is going to be for the police who will have to stop the egg throwers, possible rioters from tearing it down
Police presence may thwart the egg-throwers on the day. What about afterwards? Wonder if the 100K is for 24/7 security of the statue? :-/
don't honestly know. It does seem like a lot of money but perhaps someone can come up with a breakdown of why it would be 100k
Aww c'mon Blue Lives Matter :0)
It won't impact on me what happens down there in Grantham so why would it bother someone living in Oxford?
because some don't care for Mrs T no matter where they live.
Question Author
I object to a statue of someone who so divided this country.
But some think she was the best thing since sliced bread, diddly. Your opinion doesn't take precedence ... or does it?
I'll be honest Emmie, MT is loathed in these parts and always will be because of what she did to the mining community up here, I am no fan of hers either and always voted Labour ,that's till they moved far too far to the left then I voted Lib-dem who ended up like a damp squib anyways ,so I now I've lately voted Conservative and I've no regrets thus far
Wasn;t she elected three times?
if some look at the history of the coal industry Labour were shutting mines long before Mrs T came along
personally i think Blair did a lot of damage and he was a Labour man
don't they have Labour politicians statues in Oxford.
Save me reading the article. Does the amount include making the statue?
Blair was and is a liar, his Father was a true blue and he came in with 'new Labour' which was more Tory than Tory , I loathe him more than anyone that's been a PM
he was a Labour politican bobbi, he worked for, got elected to Labour, not the Tory party
bobbi: "MT is loathed in these parts and always will be because of what she did to the mining community up here," - most pits were closed by Labour.
