Disgraceful that this sum of money should be spent on unveiling her statue in the midst of a pandemic and economic crisis.

Imagine what would have happened if the statue had been placed in Paliament Square.....Riots.....?
perhaps, but people are stupid rioting over a statue.
same with the Colston statue tearing it off its plinth, madness.
emmie: The normal process for making a bronze sculpture is first it is modelled in clay on a metal support (armature) then a plaster mould is taken of it in interlocking pieces, hot wax is applied to the mould about 1cm thick, a core is made within, then all is heated & the wax runs out & the gap it leaves is filled with molten bronze - it's a little more complicated than that but that is near enough. It is called the 'lost wax' process.

The photo shown was taken at the clay stage.
don't know, all i do know its supposed to made of Bronze.
I have read through the thread, and reached an opinion -

I regard the subject matter of the statue to be irrelevant, but to spend money providing a police presence to protect its placing shows a serious lack of judgement on the part of the people who have decided to do this now.

Next summer, when things are hopefully far better, would be soon enough, and the supporters have waited long enough - another eight months should be neither here or there, but would remove the animosty and controversy caused by doing this in the current ecconomic and social climate.
AH doesn;t matter when its put up it will be hated by some. Now or later, it will be a bone of contention, because of who she is.
I hope Grantham has plenty of pigeons.
There was no breakdown of what the 100k was for as far as i can tell, one assumes that some of it must be for a police presence, come next year put the statue up, don't put it up, there will be those who bitterly resent any monies being spent, we may be in as dire straits as we are now, who knows. Our economic recovery is going to take a long while yet.
tony perhaps Diddly knows if there are, she seems to know the place well according to her post - where she scorned the whole of the county not just Grantham as " flat, boring and stinks of cabbages.
Maybe I should ask her / him, emmie.

Maybe I should ask her / him, emmie ;-)

Ut's been in storage for ages since it was rejected by Westminster, at least leave it there until it's safer for people to gather.
* It's
mamy don;t think according to the Poster there is a safe time/place to put it. tony what industry? she wouldn't / couldn't act alone, condemn the whole party who was in power i can understand that.
tony what industry?

Pretty much all of it, emmie.

couldn't act alone, condemn the whole party who was in power i can understand that.

Yes emmie, but she was the leader and it was her policies.
