It's quite understandable that a register of those refusing the vaccine should be kept and maintained for the benefit of the whole world. Lets hope all other nations follow suit.
The certificate and a database would police it. I don’t think anyone is saying it would be perfect (no system ever is) but it would go a long way to getting the R rate down and the world’s economy up.
I am not sure what good that register will do if it won't be shared with the public or employers.....and actually in the UK, a person's medical record will show what vaccinations they have had so its quite simple to work out what vacs they haven't had!
yes TCL, I think inevitably there will be a world register. Going forward it may even not be possible to get a passport without proof of vaccination. For now I'd like to see some sort of certification process, CV is with us now forever, we need to have infrastructure in place.
It makes sense, as far as the link goes. It doesn't seem to be for anything more than proving somebody has been offered the vaccine and decided not to have it.
When they are looking at vaccination stats, you need to know which positive cases have or haven't been vaccinated first. And also, make sure there is no blame or suing from someone who was offered and declined.
If proof of vaccination is needed in order to travel within or outwith a country, the fact that someone has refused a jag is no different from someone who is yet to have one.
emmie: "how am i going to know who has had the vaccine if i get on a bus or train, impossible to know " - that's the point you wont have to know, they'll be prevented from using public transport.
zac, you can't be serious, i have to get a register, or card to say i have had the vaccination? and present that every time i travel on a bus, who is going to police it, certainly not the driver of the bus.
pixie, the link is just to illustrate the start of measures against the anti vaxers. Expect many more initiatives. I hope the world soon integrates their efforts.
sorry i think you are so wrong, whats to stop forgeries for one thing. I don't travel by public transport much, but the time i did some people didn't have masks and it wasn;t questioned by the driver.
I agree with a register. Unless those refusing have good reasons the rest of us will suffer. The disease will never go as the anti vaxxers will keep the spread going.
Pixie, yes, for research purposes its a useful tool...although with an electronic record, you don't need a register as such, you just interrogate the data. I think in the case of Spain though its an attempt to arm twist the population. I am a definite pro vaxxer but I don't approve of that!
TCL: "the fact that someone has refused a jag is no different from someone who is yet to have one. " - well clearly we'll cannot introduce measures until everyone has had a chance to have the vaccine, I'm talking about the future.
There wouod indeed be a black market in forged certs but electronic methods such as QR codes would be harder to forge. It’s a very serious situation which requires serious solutions.
