I've just been re-reading 'Yes, Minister' and 'Yes, Prime Minister'. Worth doing. One of the notions I gleaned, but had forgotten, was that the background of broadcasts counted. The fact that Sir Keir's has caused such comment puts it firmly in the 'if you have nothing new to say, use a modern, striking background'. On the other hand, if you have something dynamic, forward-thinking and different to say then use a traditional oak desk, fireside sort of background. All very interesting.
