Police Slammed Over Creating £74,000-A-Year 'Woke' Job Role
//West Midlands Police has been accused of wasting taxpayers' cash on creating a "woke" new job role for an assistant director of fairness and belonging. The force will pay the new diversity chief £74,000-a-year to help "oversee improved inclusive culture throughout the workplace".//

So that's the sort of thing the hard-up police are prioritising and spending their money on. Now we know.
If this is the salary for an assistant to do whatever this job involves, I wonder what the boss is earning?

The term 'fairness' has already been deemed problematic because of Aryan overtones. The new guy has reported himself to himself and is currently under investigatio n by him.

With "rising crime across the West Midlands" and losing "more than 2,000 officers due to £175million funding cuts by the Government", and the added burden of coronavirus regulations for the police to administer I would have thought with the unknown billions of pounds this government has thrown at the coronavirus that they could have also gave some to the police.

I punted £170k - and it is £130-£190 k as Chief Constable
and if you have ever seen 'Shield', the west mids had their own version
poor retro cop would cringe whenever it was mentioned.
west mids serious crime squad
"It was disbanded after an investigation into allegations of incompetence and abuse of power on the part of some of the squad's members. " Defenders said that "CC Dear er now Lord Dear wd certainly not let the careers of officers in the serious crimes squad stand in the way of his own career". He didnt fire them they went onto point duty
what did stalker say: a serious crime squad should arrest more criminals than it has on its staff, or it is there to combat serious crime and not commit them.
anyway the canteen culture was seen to be an issue
which like the woke groups is a set of individuals who have the own ideals, jargon and standards.
In this case to lie and cover up. (*)
and it seems they still perceive there is a problem
(*) numerous cop programs where cops A and B are suspected so they persuade a patsy (C) to go into HQ and destroy evidence. He fired them all the next day. In fact the evidence was overtaped with an episode of "Crossroads". Like a lot of Abers, CC Dear had no sense of hummour involved
oh those were the days!
how do you get a conviction vacated if the West Mids were involved? There is even case law on this. There involvement has to be substantial and 'touch' the case. 40 cases acquitted.

fairness has aryan overtones
too right - the Capitol Police ( in Washington that is!) has a problem with that , and its interpretation
The police were running away and then posing for selfies with the rioters. oo-er Mrs ! not now of course, incompetence and indictments on the menu today
how different it might have been if there had been an officer for wokeness:
hey boy - you see that good ole boy carrying off the Speakers lectern?
Yes suh !
go over and arrest him for theft of federal property, and dont pose for a selfie before you do!
yes suh - now suh!
like so many on AB
I can rewrite history

you picked a bad example there, being BTP, the constabulary of the railway industry, a good deal of the funding of which comes from the industry itself - and whose salaries are therefore less than their geographic brethren - see here for constables....

I pondered on how to unravel this. Then I gave up.
On the one hand, it is hard to defend. On the other we want the police to be fair so it is also hard to attack it. The problem really is the woolly language and drippy earnestness. Re-write the job description in plain English and no one would bat an eyelid.
