Please give Clive Myrie half an hour on one of your digital platforms so he can anchor a sob-fest with close-ups of distressed health workers being close-upped to tears and leave the six o'clock news for news.

Yesterday, they 'tried' interviewing one of the senior nurses running a major vaccination centre, all the questions geared at tripping her up.... spirit of the team - great, spirit of the patients - great interaction, enough vaccine - plenty, anybody walked away - no but just one patient who wasn't well and we tested them and they were neg and therefore had the jab.....
It's spilled over into today's figures - balance off the w/end, Aunty Beeb - and I copy what the D-Tel's article had to say today.... https:/ /www.te legraph .co.uk/ news/20 21/01/1 8/analy sis-sec ond-wav e-nothi ng-like -first/ this is about proper balance and information!
It's why I watch Channel 4 - a much more balanced view of what is going on.

I was being sarcastic in my comment about your job - which, frankly, I don't give a damn about. And talk about assuming - your question did...the comment about empathy.
The Beeb lack balance - it was/is right to talk about overload etc on the news but, as Douglas said, turning the news into a quasi-reality programme is not on. Make a separate programme. Try watching C4 Aetheist and watch some professional journalism from (ex-BBC) presenters.

The BBC is only interested in bad news. There is plenty of good news around. I do wonder if they are responsible for the massive increase in depression which they happily report with sonorous voices. A statistician on R4 today was debunking the figures which the Beeb and all are using about the no. of deaths. She hasn't been repeated or put to the front of the news. The numbers are very, very suspect. Project Fear again. (Yes, I know it is a nasty disease, I don't deny it.)
Sorry, I gave the BBC too much credit. I was listening to R4 whilst reading the excellent article in the Telegraph and they got mixed-up in my head. Anyway - the figures we are being fed are fibs. I now know 4 people who are furious that relatives who died recently were recorded as Covid - one had a massive heart-attack, but Covid went on the Cert..
