It sounds like both sides are having the same problem. You'd have thought that in the wake of a global pandemic, ALL sides would be willing to work together to achieve the swiftest possible resolution to the problem.
Indeed you are. We had our orders in before the EU sanctioned its use.
If the EU decide they can rip up contracts whenever it suits them, no-one will have faith doing business in the EU in future.
spice: "If the EU decide they can rip up contracts whenever it suits them, no-one will have faith doing business in the EU in future. " - the remoaners were having a go about someone else potentially doing that a few months ago, they seem to be very quiet when it's their beloved EUSSR doing it.
The UK have ordered 100 million doses of the AstraZenca vaccine which is made in the UK. The EU have ordered 400 million doses, the first 30 million to be delivered by March.
You seem to be arguing that exports should leave the UK before we get our order. Are you sure about that?
Can I get this straight? The UK fails to honour the EU's order and that's okay, because you're happy that we vaccinate ourselves before shipping the vaccine abroad, the EU do virtually the identical thing and that's bullying?

behaving in a way that suggests one has higher standards or more noble beliefs than is the case.

The EU and the UK both made their orders BEFORE the vaccine was approved anywhere. They made their orders in the summer, and approval came 6 months later.
AZ took orders based on how much of the stuff they can make. But they have now found production is more difficult (slower) than anticipated. AZ have taken money from the EU so the orders MUST be fulfilled.
And when some of us suggested the EU had problems with it's vaccine roll-out, we were savagely attacked by the EU lobby on here and assured they would catch up and overtake the useless UK in no time. 'They're not singing anymore' as I believe the goes. ;-)

Sunk I'm not interested in numbers of vaccines although it's problematic I accept, it the EU tit for tat attitude showing them to be petulant that I'm getting at, quote as many figures as you want , you obviously * like* what the EU are about, I do not
The UK roll out has been very good. And the EU’s has been poor. But that is an entirely different issue.
// AstraZeneca is believed to have received an upfront payment of £298m when the 27-nation bloc sealed a supply deal with the company in August for at least 300 million doses. //
Should AZ refund the £298 million to the EU, or honour the contract?

I am pleased you agree that 400 million doses of UK made AZ vaccine should go to the EU. Even if that means you and I have to wIt longer for our doses. Well done you.

A contract is just that & must be honoured, but was there any stipulation as to the delivery date?
