this is one thing the British govt seem to have got right

oh reader, the constant activity against variation was built in. The RNA was read ( within a week of striking the west I think) and lengths that were not variable between samples were chosen as candidate genes

the vaccinologists really did their act together on this one. Big pharma the producers of the vaccine really seem to have fumbled the torch ....

The vaccine is called NVX-CoV2373 at the moment but might change when it comes to market. Novavax is the company that makes it.

What are we going to do with all these doses? there will be even more by the time Boris waters them down, like the Pfizer one.

Some would of complained whether we had reserved to many or to few.
Anyway we'll need these as there will be further jabs needed next year and if necessary we can pass some onto the developing world or EU. Better to have ordered to many than to few.

They haven’t started to produce this vaccine yet, so it is too early to worry about a glut.
It has had results from a first trial. It hasn’t been certified as safe to use or gone into production. The earliest we will get this is later in the year.

Once the dozen or so vaccines have had real world use, we will find which are the best and use those in future.

Obviously what Gates has done is create the UK strain of the virus, then come up with a vaccine for it. He didn't get to be a billionaire by being a fool. Create a market, like he did with Windows, that's the way to do it.
