Frankly If you live here and you are not proud to be British, why do you live here? Live where you do like, very simple. If I was not proud to live here I would not. I wouldn't whine like jumbo jet every 5 minutes, what is wrong with people?

TTT......LOL. I admit I came back to the UK to avail myself of the NHS. I will cease slagging off the NHS.

Andy has spoken, Tora, and you’re a norty boi! (In PP speak).
TTT - // Bar a few every country in the world is barbaric with health care. //

Again a sweeping assumption with no basis in fact.

My family have availed themselves of Spanish medical care just once - on holiday - and it was absolutely the equal of anything we would have expected from the NHS here - no 'barbarism' at all.
Zacs - // Jeez, you can’t base an argument on Fender’s proclamations. You might as well base one on candy floss. //

Possibly not - but since he has yet to post on this thread, we don't know what his 'proclamations' may or may not be.

If, as usual, you want to stir and provoke rather than contribute, at least aim your pointless jibes at the right person.
LOL...lol...TTT.
For the very last time on AB.
I did NOT return for health reasons.
My negative remarks are confined to the NHS when appropriate. My main concern is of British who savage health care in other countries.
I am a resident inthe UK and pay my taxes as I have done for in excess of 50 years.
I have worked in the NHS for over 30 years.
I have been hospitalised in Spain and th UK and received excellent and appropriate treatment in both countries.
You read TTT but don't listen and remember.
andy, what about costs?

Two mates injured in Germany...cost them an absolute fortune.

Personally, I would not equate health care provided in a foreign country being expensive, which it will be by default, as being 'barbarous' - that's economics, not culture.

AJ 23:10, when I wrote //AH: "If sqad has trained and worked in this country, and paid his income tax and national insurance, I for one believe that gives him the right to avail himself of the NHS like anyone else who has similarly supported it, the the state, throughout their working life."
I agree but don't BS about it, come clean. // - meant that I agree that sqad has a right to come back to uk for the NHS but he pretends that it's not the reason, he takes every chance to slag the NHS off yet he relocated from paradise to the UK because of the NHS. I therefore conclude that he's talking bow locks.
‘ we don't know what his 'proclamations' may or may not be’

Apart from the fact Tora’s OP is based on them?

Cross-posting between threads is confusing, which is why everyone sticks to the thread they are debating on, not assuming every knows about a tandem thread which they may or may not have seen.
TTT - // AH: "Personally, I would not equate health care provided in a foreign country being expensive, which it will be by default, as being 'barbarous' - that's economics, not culture. " - ...and barbaric, end of. //

If you think that another country that charges for its medical services to its residents means it is callsed as 'barbaric', then you have a very loose, and potentially uninformed notion of what the term 'barbaric' actually means.

Allow me to assist -

barbaric
[ bahr-bar-ik ]SHOW IPA

adjective
without civilizing influences; uncivilized; primitive:
barbaric invaders.
of, like, or befitting barbarians:
a barbaric empire; barbaric practices.
crudely rich or splendid:
barbaric decorations.
Th 'tandem' thread is in the OP
Andy, than you need to pay more attention to what a thread is actually about. Making a statement that Fender hadn’t contributed, when there’s a clear link, is missing the point. It’s not ‘confusing’ when it’s the crux of the post.

That reply tells me you are not fully following the thread.

sqad has advised you more than once that his reason to return was not to avail himself of the NHS, and I have no reason to disbelieve him.

You appear to want to make him a 'health tourist' and then criticisze him offensively for it - which is making you look increasingly jingoistic, and foolish, in equal measure.

That reply tells me that, as usual, I don't care what you think about what I post.
The fact that you replied to it tells me that you do.
