Why is the SNP wasting effort and resources on pursuing an illegal "referendum" when they should be fighting the war on COVID-19 with the rest of the UK?

All you English"Scots"should come up and live in Scotland.A couple of days in the Weegieland slums, and you would be back to England in a flash,at the same time building a new Hadrians Wall behind you.Scotland sure aint a land of milk and honey with the yokels munching on heather and living next-door to Brigadoon.

JD: "Not as far-fetched as it sounds. She may need something like that to prevent the massive flow of Scots to England. " - good point, Wee Jimmy would have to raise taxes sky high to have any chance of a viable economy and the Scot's tendency for thrift is well known. I wonder how much more tax TCL and Maggie would tolerate before they decamped across the border.

mozz: //Tora, surely it's "independence from those who are currently in charge"? // - well that would be an extrication, clearly the last thing they want is independence, that's is a misleading term.

to what roy?
As I said Tora, if they don't want to remain part of the union, they should be allowed to go. If you think they should be forced to stay, it would be the height of hypocracy from someone who fought so passionately over us leaving the EU.

What they do afterwards is entirely up to them.

Mozz, "As I said Tora, if they don't want to remain part of the union, they should be allowed to go." - I agree but please stop calling it "independence, that is a falsehood and their population deserve honesty.
" If you think they should be forced to stay, it would be the height of hypocracy from someone who fought so passionately over us leaving the EU. " - where have I ever said that? If they want to leave, fine but I will be saddened if they have to build a border on this Island. I just think their hatred of England is blinding them to the fact they'll end up as a vassal to the EUSSR. In UK they are 99% autonomous, in the EUSSR that will vastly reduce. Assuming of course they get in.
I never said you did say that Tora, the "if" at the start of the sentence is all important ;-)

It's not what I'm calling it (well, it is but it's not made up by me) it's what they're calling it. It's independence from Westminster, whether or not they then fall into subservience to Brussels, as I said, is they're look at.

Question on a slightly different area of the same topic: would the UK change the Union Flag is Scotland did leave the UK? It wouldn't require the blue from the St. Andrew's Cross anymore?

*theor look out
If anyone from Scotland reads these childish juvenile posts, That John Bull puts on A/B . Then no wonder the Scots dislike the English. Thank god the English have not beem tarred with same brush as TTT.
Great, so now there are typos in my typo corrections. Should've just left the bloody thing as it was.

Mozz: "Question on a slightly different area of the same topic: would the UK change the Union Flag is Scotland did leave the UK? It wouldn't require the blue from the St. Andrew's Cross anymore? " - No, it should not change, when the flag was conceived it took parts from the Saltire to make a new flag, it's now a new flag and personally I think we should keep it as it is. The flag is the UK flag now regardless of it's origins. The different parts that made it do not, in my opinion represent the original countries now, they represent the UK.
Question Author
Mozz: when I said: //please stop calling it "independence"// - I didn't mean you I meant those that are in favour of leaving the UK.

I would not want this:

The flag is the flag of the UK, even when the UK is no longer united.

Right oh!
ynnafymmi//This IndyRef thing is just a distraction to keep us Scots away from the ongoing civil war in the SNP between the Salmondites and the Sturgeonites.//

I reckon you're right. Plus the ever growing list of criminal behaviour indulged in by the SNP. They should put their house in order before moving. You'd think Scottish people would want honest governance.
@09.34.Hi,Gully....Perhaps better John Bull than Wee Burney or Randy Alec...Just saying....
Yes, the Untied Kingdom should keep its flag. Even the green bits.

I for one can't understand for the life of me why Scots will not buy into Boris Johnsons version of English nationalism.
Question Author
doug: "The flag is the flag of the UK, even when the UK is no longer united. " - the UK will remain if 8% want to leave, end of.
Question Author
anyway all blue triangles do not belong to Scotland!
TTT, I expect TCL decamped some time ago. (judging by his name) if, indeed, he was ever there at all.
Don't know is it the same in the Scottish community, but no-one is more fiercely patriotic for Ireland than the Plastic Paddy.
