gully, what happened to "we will never leave the EUSSR"?
Why was your post removed,Tora. Were you laughing at the plight of a lot of working-class people about to lose their jobs up here in North Scotland. No laughing matter mate,no laughing matter.
16.33 Ynnafymmi, you will have to forgive TTT , not his fault, he was blinded by the light when he was radicalised.
Maggie, I've just nearly choked on my coffee with laughing here

> considering how vociferously pro-Brexit some British fisherfolk were, the moral is "be careful what you wish for".

Be careful what you fish for ...
Mostly SNP voters,Ellipsis.Aye,be careful what you wish for, alright. And no IndyRef2 to be seen in sight either.Nationalists,eh.
Wishful thinking, booky. After looking in amazement at us stupid Brits do you think the Italians or the French want the madness of exiting the EU on them?
Be careful what you fish for ...
The EUSSR require 71 pages of red tape to accompany just one wagon load of fish. This of course is the fish that mysteriously entered the EUSSR very easily when they were stealing it. The remoaniacs now accuse the UK of being responsible for this state of affairs and are gleefully clutching their little winkles, like a hysterical child, in excitement. No recognition, even yet, that this is but another illustration of all that is wrong with the corruption riven cartel, and more evidence that the bloc is almost impossible to trade with for the rest of the World. Or are these regulations only for the UK? If so then we need to show our famed invention and begin to be just as demanding about imports from an area that we can not trust. Would they deliberately send goods here that would prove to be a health hazard? I think that the latest evidence say that they would indeed.
But in the meantime,Togo, what is your solution to the EU not accepting our seafood.Perhaps you can come up with a solution within the next three weeks.I and a lot of others will be out of a job after that.
Have you tried "complaining" to them? Or even appealing to their sense of decency and common sense. Or like us have you also accepted that they are not to be trusted or allowed to assume control. In the meanwhile blaming the UK, and doing nothing more will not advance your cause or grievance. Remember ... most of this product was destined for the restaurants and hospitality businesses in the EUSSR(Hospitality. Talk about an oxymoron) but like here most of those establishments are closed down. The market is massively depressed anyway and in the meantime perhaps the fishing industry needs to promise itself to never allow itself to be in the grip of a petty, vicious, cartel again.
Surely we should ensure that for every piece of paper on exports to France, there should be a corresponding one for imports?
Give them a taste of their own bureaucracy?
Indeed. Once Parisians start getting out and about again and they realise that their favourite restaurants are short of supplies things will change. It's unfortunate that Brexit coincided with Covid, but we are where we are. You don't give in to threats from bullies and protectionists.
ynna, one minute you’re saying you’re retiring, the next you’re expecting your redundancy notice. Strange.
Expect Farages Garages to be doing a roaring trade in the next few months, or even years with all the parked up lorries they will have to cater for.
Sadly, our fishing industry will contract massively now we have lost our main market.
In 12 months time the number of boats will have halved because it is no longer sustainable.
The alternative UK market will be shut for the next 6 months so fishermen will have no one to sell to.

I do hope all those successful ‘Fishing for Leave ‘ campaigners don’t feel let down, now that Mr Farage has vanished without trace.

Farage has not vanished without trace. I keep seeing his ads on YouTube, trying to sell me some sort of financial scheme. I can't tell you much more about it, I've only heard the first few seconds of spiel ...
Sunk //In 12 months time the number of boats will have halved because it is no longer sustainable//
//The alternative UK market will be shut for the next 6 months so fishermen will have no one to sell to.//
Have you any proof of this or is it more false news from you?
Just ignore Danny. It's the best policy with Gulliver and I notice it's happening more and more on AB.
