Isn't it a fantastic achievement for Boris' Vaccine Taskforce, now having vaccinated more UK residents that the entire 27 countries of the EU combined have done for theirs?
Lots of men & women deserve accolades, but at the top should go Sir Patrick Vallance, "who from early on was hammering the point about onshore manufacturing" & the largely unsung 'Vaccine Tsar', Kate Bingham.
Three cheers for Britain at its best!
The stats whichever way you view them do not contradict Khandro’s assertion that the UK “leads” in Europe.
It’s impossible to say if it’s more than all the other EU countries combined. One would hope not.
////I wonder if any ABers have had both?////
@ brainiac, Yes my sister inlaw has had both, first just before christmas the next on Jan 6th , that when they were only 3 weeks apart, she had no reactions from them , she was given the Pfizer one
Britain could vaccinate everyone by next week, cure cancer & make everyone into millionaires, & sunk/gromit would find something wrong with it - I can only conclude that he hates Britain & its undoubted achievements.
Last week Sunk was assuring everyone that the EU ordered and paid for their vacs at the same time as the UK. (if not before) All lies, of course.
If you keep taking your 'facts' from the Haw Haw Times or whatever, sunk, you'll get a reputation as a liar and only the left wing intelligentsia will believe every word you say.
It's not necessarily that important. EU countries may have used the stocks they were allocated. Their big complaint was the wait for their next allocation. I was reading these things 2 weeks ago, it's possible things have changed.
trev, I was referring to SUNK's assertion that "Europe combined has vaccinated more people than the UK. "
I suppose I was just being a pedant. Some people don't seem to know the difference between the EU and Europe. Although UKhas left the EU, it hasn't been towed off to join Asia.
Even if the EU had delivered 1 vaccination, Europe would have delivered more vaccines than the UK ( by at least 1)
Khandro,
// Sir Patrick Vallance, "who from early on was hammering the point about onshore manufacturing" //
I confess, I have no recollection of Vallance or anyone else making that point.
Anyhow, that isn’t what has happened. We have ordered I think from 8 different vaccines. The OxfordAZ vaccine is made here. The Valneva will be made in Scotland. The GlaxoSmithKline was a failure. The rest, the majority, are made abroad.
